Bokashi is fermented organic compost capable of improving the physical, chemical, and biological conditions of the soils. The compost action in the agricultural production system is influenced by its preparation, resulting in products with different physicochemical characteristics. The study aimed to characterize bokashi produced on-farm and compare it with commercial products. The produced composts in southern Brazil were obtained through efficient microorganisms (EM), collected in an area of permanent preservation, and kefir. Two commercial composts were used for comparison (Plantae FertTM and Bokashi Sementes BrasilTM). Physical characteristics related to apparent specific gravity, water content, and water retention capacity and chemical characteristics... |

ABSTRACT - Mycobacterium tuberculosis is the microorganism that causes tuberculosis, a disease affecting millions of people worldwide. Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is a fast, reliable, and cost-effective method for microorganism identification which has been used for the identification of Mycobacterium spp. isolates. However, the mycobacteria cell wall is rich in lipids, which makes it difficult to obtain proteins for MALDI-TOF MS analysis. In this study, two cell preparation protocols were compared: the MycoEx, recommended by MALDI-TOF instrument manufacturer Bruker Daltonics, and the MycoLyser protocol described herein, which used the MagNA Lyser instrument to enhance cell disruption with... |

The search for cultivation techniques that provide productive, social and environmental benefits to the agroecosystem is of great seriousness for the sustainable intensification of agriculture. This study aimed to determine the effect of crop cover crops on the soil attributes and development of bean plants treated with the consortium of bioagents Serratia marcencens + Trichodermakoningiopsis grown in the winter. The experiments were conducted for three crop seasons, in a randomized blocks design arranged in a 2 x 8 factorial scheme, with four replications. The treatments consisted of the combination of eight cover crops with two microbial treatments. The bioagents and the mix of cover crops, especially the treatment 2 (corn) and the mixes 3 (millet,... |

Tropical flooded rice production systems require a high input of fertilizers and chemical defensive. The use of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), a sustainable component of this system, can increase nutrient-use efficiency and lead to significant increases in the grain yield of tropical flooded rice crop. This study aimed to determine the effect of the microorganism BRM 32110 (Bacillus thuringiensis) in combination with nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) application rates on the physiological and agronomic performance of tropical flooded rice plants. Trials were performed in the 2016/2017 growing season in Formoso do Araguaia, a city in Tocantins state, Brazil. Three independent experiments (E1, E2, and E3) were performed in a... |

ABSTRACT: The main goal of this research was to evaluate the postharvest quality during storage of papaya wrapped with polyvinyl chloride containing silver. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and atomic absorption spectroscopy were employed for the film characterization. For the postharvest experiments, unwrapped fruits were compared to individually wrapped ones in both conventional polyvinyl chloride film and polyvinyl chloride film containing silver and stored under two conditions (10 days at 15°C, and 2 days at 22°C to simulate market conditions). The physicochemical analyzes, including soluble solids, titratable acidity, ratio, pH, ascorbic acid, weight loss, firmness and color were performed every two days of... |

Abstract: Chrysomya megacephala (Diptera: Calliphoridae), known as blowfly, has a great capacity for dispersion and, due to factors such as food abundance and favorable climate, it colonizes Brazil completely in a short time. These insects are important because carrying microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, protozoa and helminthes, which promote many diseases. The aim of this study was to verify the diversity of bacteria carried by this species in the Federal University of Mato Grosso ? Campus of Sinop during the month of January of 2012. The flies were collected using two traps baited with 100 g of fresh sardines on each and maintained in the field for 24 hours. Twenty specimens of C. megacephala were placed in Petri dishes, to walk for two minutes... |

The aim of this study was to evaluate the density and phenotypical diversity of diazotrophic endophytic bacteria from the forage palm irrigated with different saline water depths. Opuntia stricta (IPA-200016) received five depths of saline water (L1: 80%. ETo; L2: 60%.ETo; L3: 40%; ETo; L4: 20%; ETo and, L5: 0% ETo, where ETo is the reference evapotranspiration). The roots were collected in the field, disinfected, grounded and serial diluted from 10-1 to 10-4. The total concentration of diazotrophic bacteria was determined by the most probable number method (MPN) and the isolated bacteria were characterized phenotipically. The concentration of bacteria found in forage palm roots ranged from 0.36 x 104 to 09.89 104 cells per gram of root, with highest... |
