This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of lines and muscle types on tenderness of Pradu Hang Dam Chiang Mai 1 (Pradu Hang Dam), Pradu Hang Dam’s crossbred (crossbred) and broiler at 1.2-1.3 kg of body weight. There were 80 chickens for each line group (total 240) and were allotted in CRD. For breast and thigh muscle, the results showed that thawing loss of Pradu Hang Dam and its crossbred were higher than broiler (P<0.05). For thigh muscle, cooking loss of Pradu Hang Dam was the highest (P<0.05). For shear force value, Pradu Hang Dam and its crossbred were higher than broiler both in breast and thigh muscle (P<0.05). Integrated Pest Management (IPM) trial sets were conducted at Phatthalung, Naknon Si Thammarat and Songkhla provinces from wet season year 2011 to wet season year 2013 included 5 crops in 3 years. The data population of insect pests and natural enemies, percent damage of diseases, percent damage of animal pests, species and wet weigh of weeds, yield per rai, costs, price of yield and net benefit were collected and compared with Farmer Practice (FP) trial. Straw management by incorporation into the soils is an alternative method to avoid straw burning before land preparation.The experiment was conducted at Pathum Thani Rice Research Center and Suphan Buri Rice Research Center during 2006-2007. It was comprised of 3 trials, i.e., effect of amount of straw incorporated into soils to rice growth and yield, effect of straw management methods to rice growth and yield, and effect of straw incorporation period to rice growth and yield. The results showed that straw incorporation rate of 0-800 kg/rai did not affect early growth stage (number of plants/m2 at 15 days after planting) and yield. Variation in zinc (Zn) concentration in the grain of 50 local rice varieties from Southern Thailand was examined by diphenyl thiocarbazone (DTZ) staining (intense, medium, low, and nil) and chemical analysis. Intense staining was found in the aleurone layer of 94% of the varieties, in the embryo 56% of the varieties and endosperm 12% of the varieties. Variation was found in the DTZ staining intensity of the embryo and endosperm of individual grains, with Shannon-weaver diversity index (H) of the DTZ staining at 0.15-1.00 for the embryo and 0.00-1.00 for the endosperm. Recently, the outbreak of brown planthopper in irrigated paddy fields in the lower northern region was found frequently due to continuous rice growing resulting in low yield of rice production. RD49 is a non–glutinous rice which is insensitive to photoperiod. This line was obtained from 3–way cross, PSL00508-3-1-1-4 /IR66738-118-1-2//IR68544-29-2-1-3-1-2. The average yield is 733 kg/rai which is 26, 15 and 6% greater than those of Chai Nat 1, Phitsanulok 2 and RD47, respectively whereas the maximum yield potential reaches 939 kg/rai. Rice production technology field trial had been conducted in Kamphaengphet province as a part of rice production potential zoning in the lower northern part. The objective is to increase rice production of farmers in this province. Rice varieties were planted with 156.25 kg/ha seed rate of direct seeding and chemical fertilizer were applied as recommended rate compared with soil analysis rate at appropiate times. The results found that soil analysis application can increase rice yield around 2 - 45 and 15 - 38% in both high and moderate suitable soil in 2011 and 2012, respectively depending on the rice variety, rice growing season and the farmers practices. The experiment was conducted to determine the effect of different organic materials on the response of rice in saline soil. Paddy storage may cause considerable losses and changes in quality of rice. The objective of this study was to determine changes in some physical and chemical properties of rice grains during storage. The experiment was conducted at Pathum Thani Rice Research Center during May 2012 – February 2014. PTT1 variety was used for dry season and KDML105 for wet season. Samples were taken and stored in 2 kg woven plastic sack at room temperature. The PTT1 and KDML105 samples were stored for 12 months. Antagonist was applied as either seed or foliar treatments and the efficacy of disease suppression was determined by disease incidence and systemic resistance induction. Under greenhouse, the threshold concentration of each antagonist required for significant (P=0.05) suppression of BLS was 1*10**(6) and 1*10**(8) cfu/ml for seed and foliar spray applications respectively. Combined seed and foliar treatments with antagonist provided higher induction of plant resistance than application either seed or foliar alone, as account by correlated accumulation of defense-related enzyme activity, beta-1,3-glucanase.
