This study evaluated the effects of larval densities, cultured in flow-through system, in the yield and quantity of larvae. The first experiment compared the larval yield of a flowthrough system (80 larvae mL-1) and a batch system (8 larvae mL-1), which resulted in a higher yield and number of larvae in the flowthrough system, after 23 days. The second experiment compared two larval densities (20 and 45 larvae mL-1) in flowthrough system. The densities affected the yield after 15 and 23 days and the larvae final quantity after all tested times (8, 15, and 23 days). After 23 days of larviculture, the yield was highest for 20 larvae mL-1 and the larval number for 45 larvae mL-1. The third experiment also compared two larval densities (100 and 150 larvae... |

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of adding slow-release urea to replace conventional urea in the diet on carcass characteristics of feedlot sheep. We used 20 Santa Ines x SRD rams, with average body weight of 21.1±1.2 kgand average age of 120 days, distributed in a completely randomized design with 5 treatments. The replacement levels used as treatments were 0, 20, 40, 60, and 80%, composing diets of about 12% crude protein, with 50 % Tifton-85 hay and 50% concentrate. There was no influence of slow release urea on weight at slaughter (35.17 kg), and on hot (16.75 kg) and cold (16.24 kg) carcass weight, but the yield of these carcasses showed quadratic trend, revealing lower percentages at 48.5 and 47.63% replacement levels, respectively. The advantages of transplanting with respect to direct sowing has been widely reported in several vegetable species, but there are few studies in Cucurbits, and even fewer in summer squash (Cucurbita maxima (Carr.) Millán var. zapallito). Morphological and physiological characteristics of hybrid varieties determine earliness of between 5 to 10 days compared to traditional cultivars. The aim of the study was to compare the summer squash setting systems, direct sowing and nursery seedlings, and to determine their effect on yield and earliness in different genotypes. The hybrid varieties F1 Angelo and Espejo, and the standard varieties Any and Any Plus were used combined with two setting systems (direct sowing and nursery seedlings). Male and female flowering... |

For determination and assessing the effect of agricultural mechanization in irrigated corn of Iran, two indicators have been used: cultivated area (ha) and yield (kg/ha). Several regression models have been built, using Mechanization Level (ML) and Mechanization Ownership (MO) of all agricultural operations, as input, and cultivated area and yield as output, separately. The survey was carried out by means of data obtained from Agricultural Ministry of Iran in the period of 2001-2008. The results revealed that mechanization ownership of planting and harvesting have a significant effect on cultivated area of corn in Iran with 95% and 99% confidence, respectively. Based on obtained results, agricultural mechanization has an important role in improvement... |
