La dynamique de restauration des les milieux lagunaires vis-à-vis de l’eutrophisation reste lente et souvent limitée par l'azote et le phosphore contenus dans les sédiments qui alimentent la colonne d'eau et supporteraient largement la croissance de macro-algues. Le compartiment sédimentaire doit donc être considéré comme une « pression » dans ce contexte de restauration qu’il faut aujourd’hui quantifier au même titre que les autres pressions. De nouvelles grilles d’évaluation des risques liés aux charges sédimentaires ont ainsi été développées pour l’azote et le phosphore total. Impact of weather conditions on Escherichia coli accumulation in oysters of the Thau lagoon (the Mediterranean, France) ArchiMer

Aims The Thau lagoon shellfish are regularly impacted by microbial pollution of faecal origin, which cause European health standards to be exceeded and closure of the shellfish harvest. The aims of this study were to investigate the impact of weather and hydrological conditions on Escherichia coli (E. coli) accumulation factor (AF) between water and oysters and to evaluate the relevance of the use of this ratio for the purpose of sanitary risk assessment. The Thau lagoon, located at the South of France, provides 10% of the French pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas production. Despite this intensive shellfish production, the larval recruitment of this species within the Thau lagoon is still misunderstood and spat collection remains highly variable; as a consequence, shellfish farmers rely mostly on hatchery”s spat. Etude sanitaire de la zone de production conchylicole n°11.05 "Etang du Grazel" ArchiMer

Une étude sanitaire est réalisée en vue du classement de la zone par l’administration. Dans le cas présent, la zone d’étude « Etang du Grazel » n°11.05 est déjà classée en B pour le groupe 3 dans l’arrêté n°2010/11/2754 du 9 août 2010 avec une période de pêche décrite du 1er avril au 30 septembre. Cette zone n’était pas suivie dans le cadre du REMI pour la surveillance de ce groupe de coquillage en raison d’une absence d’information sur l’exploitation de cette ressource (moules). Cette zone est suivie dans le cadre du REMI pour la surveillance du groupe de coquillages fouisseurs (palourdes, groupe 2) depuis 2004.

The THAUMEX measurement campaign, carried out during the summer of 2011 in Thau, a coastal lagoon in southern France, focused on episodes of marine breezes. During the campaign, three intensive observation periods (IOPs) were conducted and a large amount of data were collected. Subsequently, standalone modelling using the FLake lake model was used, first to assess the surface temperature and the surface energy balance, and second to determine the energy budget of the water column at the measurement site. Les politiques publiques mises en place pour la reconquête de la bonne qualité des écosystèmes lagunaires se sont attachées à réduire les intrants d’éléments nutritifs (N et P). Cependant, au cours des 30 dernières années, les lagunes ont stocké d’importantes quantités de ces éléments, notamment dans les sédiments. Par conséquent, ce stock sédimentaire est de nature à freiner la restauration des milieux lagunaires (hystérésis) et à retarder l’atteinte du bon état écologique (Directive Cadre sur l’Eau). Swinging boat moorings: Spatial heterogeneous damage to eelgrass beds in a tidal ecosystem ArchiMer

Seagrass meadows are currently known to be subjected to huge physical disturbances including boat moorings in shallow bays. We aimed to identify the impact of permanent swing mooring on the fast-growing seagrass Zostera marina in a mega-tidal area. Coupling the hydrodynamic MARS3D model to simulate mooring chain movements and in situ measurements of plant traits, we analyzed the structural responses of the eelgrass bed to scraping disturbance in the western English Channel (France).
