| Três experimentos foram realizados com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito da suplementação enzimática em rações à base de milho e soja sobre o desempenho (Experimento 1), a digestibilidade de nutrientes (Experimento 2) e o desempenho e o fluxo de nutrientes na digesta ileal (Experimento 3) em frangos de corte. No Experimento 1, para o cálculo das rações experimentais, a composição química do farelo de soja (FS) e da soja integral extrusada (SIE) foi superestimada em 7% para os valores de EM e PB e 5% para Met, Met+Cis e Lis (Trat. C, D e E) e 9% para EM, 7% para PB e 5% para Met, Met+Cis e Lis (Trat. | O objetivo neste trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho e os parâmetros ósseos de frangos de corte alimentados com rações contendo diferentes níveis de óleo de linhaça no período de 1 a 42 dias de idade. Nas fases inicial e de crescimento (1 a 21 dias e 22 a 42 dias, respectivamente), foi adotado delineamento inteiramente casualizado com 4 níveis de óleo de linhaça (2,0; 3,5; 5,0 ou 6,5%), 6 repetições e 50 aves/unidade experimental. Os níveis de óleo de linhaça tiveram efeito linear crescente sobre o diâmetro e o peso absoluto da tíbia, mas não influenciaram o peso do fêmur. | The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of broiler breeders' age and yeast wall (YW) levels on broilers' performance and macrophage activitys. The experiment consisted in a completely randomized design and a 2 X 5 factorial arrangement and two controls of two broiler breeders age (34 and 57 weeks of age) and five YW levels (zero, one, two, three or four kg of YW/ton of diet). They received sorghum diet compared to a control corn/soybean meal diet. The age of the broiler breeders influenced the performance, but did not affect macrophage activity. | A trial was carried out to determine the lysine requirement for starting barrows fed on ideal protein concept-based diets. Thirty-two pigs from a commercial crossbred genetic group (CCGG, BW=15.9 ± 1.4 kg) and 32 pigs from a dam line one (DLGG, BW= 14.8 ± 1.0 kg) were used. Pigs were allotted to 4 treatments with diets containing increasing levels of total lysine (0.80, 1.00, 1.20 and 1.40%). Methionine+cystine, threonine and tryptophan were adjusted according to ideal protein profile. Data from performance, plasma urea nitrogen (PUN) and carcass composition were analyzed. | Two experiments were carried out to study the effects of grinding of soybean hulls (SH) on starting pigs (15-30 kg) diets. Experiment I consisted of a digestibility trial with 12 barrows, initial average body weight 21.9±1.29 kg, in which the best digestibility coefficient (DC) of DM and GE was obtained with SH ground through a 2.5mm screen mesh, evaluated for CP and ME, a best DC was attained with 3.0 mm screen mesh. In the Experiment II, five diets with increasing SH (2.5 mm) levels (0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 %) for starting piglets were formulated. | ABSTRACT: Advances in the fields of glycobiology and immunology have provided many insights into the role of carbohydrate-protein interactions in the immune system. Jacalin of Artocarpus integrifolia (JCA) and structural mannoprotein of Saccharomyces uvarum (MPS) are molecules with immunomodulatory properties. JCA is an IgA human lectin binding molecule that causes the mitogenic stimulation of immune cells, production of cytokines, chemotaxis, and activation of leukocytes. | Este trabalho objetivou estudar os efeitos do intervalo para o alojamento (IA) e de níveis de lisina digestível (LD) nas dietas iniciais sobre o desenvolvimento do músculo do peito e rendimento de carcaça de frangos de corte. Para tanto, 1.760 pintos de corte, machos, Cobb500, foram distribuídos aleatoriamente em oito grupos experimentais em arranjo fatorial 2x4 de 4 IAs (12, 24, 36 e 48h) e dois níveis de LD (1,143 e 1,267%), com quatro repetições e 55 aves por unidade experimental. | O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a utilização do milheto (Pennisetum glaucum, (L.) R. Brown) na alimentação de suínos na fase inicial (15 aos 30kg de peso vivo). Foi conduzido um experimento de desempenho, utilizando-se 48 leitões híbridos comerciais, sendo metade machos e metade fêmeas, com peso inicial de 14,9 ± 2,01kg. Utilizou-se a variedade IAPAR-IA98301 de milheto (MS: 90,61%; PB: 11,64%; Ca: 0,05%, P: 0,29% e 3.181kcal ED kg-1).
