| ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of water stress levels in the soil and a mix (or: a mixed inoculum of four species: Claroideoglomus etunicatum, Gigasporas rosea, Acaulospora longula, Fuscutata heterogama) of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on initial vegetative growth, fresh and dry biomass production, root colonization, phosphorus, proteins, enzymes and amino acid of the sugarcane variety RB 857515 under greenhouse conditions. | ABSTRACT Considering the relevant importance of guava (Psidium guajava) in Northeastern Brazil along with the benefits of neem cake amendments on soil characteristics, this work evaluated the effects of neem cake on chemical attributes of a Regosol under irrigated guava orchard in an alluvial valley of Pernambuco semi-arid region. Evaluations were carried out in two areas (area 1 - with neem cake; area 2 - without neem cake) at three periods: before the first application of neem cake, 90 days after the first application and 90 days after the second application. | Objetivou-se, neste estudo, avaliar o desenvolvimento vegetativo e o acúmulo de macronutrientes em plantas de milho submetidas às doses de manipueira. O experimento foi conduzido em ambiente protegido no período de março a maio de 2011. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 2 (tipos de solo: franco-arenoso e franco-argiloso) × 4 (doses de manipueira: 0; 11,2; 22,4 e 44,8 m³ ha-1), com oito repetições. As variáveis analisadas foram: altura das plantas, diâmetro de colmos, número de folhas, matéria fresca e matéria seca da parte aérea das plantas e teores de N, P, K, Ca e Mg no tecido foliar. | ABSTRACT The use of brackish water in agriculture can cause salinization of soils and reduce plant yield. This problem can be minimized by hydroponic cultivation, which improves plant development. The aim of this study was to evaluate the yield of cherry tomatoes grown in hydroponic system with substrate under salinity levels of the nutrient solution (NS), exposure time to salinity and irrigation frequency.
