脊髄造影後の後遺障害発生のメカニズムについて、脊髄終末が犬より尾側に位置するウサギを用いて、行動観察、神経学的および病理組織学的に検討した。実験にはウサギ(n=12)を使用し、実験群は、(1)脊髄穿刺群、(2)生理的食塩水注入群、(3)等浸透圧ヨード造影剤イオジキサノール注入群、(4)低浸透圧ヨード造影剤イオヘキソール注入群とした。全身麻酔下で第5-6腰椎間より脊髄穿刺あるいは薬液を脊髄実質内に直接注入し、処置48時間後に行動観察および神経学的検査を、72時間後に病理組織学的検査を行うとともに、切片上での損傷面積率について評価した。神経学的検査では生理的食塩水注入群、イオジキサノール注入群およびイオヘキソール注入群で異常が認められた。また、穿刺部位の脊髄損傷面積率についても脊髄穿刺群と生理的食塩水注入群との間に明らかな差異が認められた。本研究の結果から、脊髄への薬液注入による組織の圧迫は、脊髄造影後の後遺障害を発生させる要因と考えられた。今後、脊髄造影を行う際には、脊髄針からの脳脊髄液の逆流を必ず確認し、造影剤の実質内注入を疑った場合には直ちに検査を中止することを提案する。なお、将来は獣医臨床における、より安全な脊髄造影手技の開発が望まれる。 The purpose of this experiment is to characterize the aftereffects of myelography of canine spinal cords using rabbits,since the distal end of the spinal cord of rabbits is more caudal than that of dogs. The ranges of pronation/supination of forearms in raccoons, raccoon dogs and red pandas were nondestructively examined. Three carcasses of each species were used for CT analysis, and the left forearms were scanned with a CT scanner in two positions: maximal supination and maximal pronation. Scanning data were reconstructed into three-dimensional images, cross-sectional images were extracted at the position that shows the largest area in the distal part of ulna, and then, the centroids of each cross section of the radius and ulna were detected. Soil samples from the ground surface and feces and blood from a mixed-breed male pig were collected on April 10, 2011 at a farm within 20 km of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The radioactivity of each sample was measured using a Ge semiconductor detector. Despite the fact that the pig had been fed non-contaminated imported feed, 131I, 134Cs and 137Cs were detected in the feces, and 134Cs and 137Cs were detected in the blood clots. Because it is considerably difficult to measure radioactive contamination in the edible muscle of living livestock, bioassays are an option for the screening of radioactive contamination in living livestock to ensure food safety. |

Equine bone scintigraphy is usually performed with horses in standing position under sedation. However, swaying motion often leads to poor-quality images. To examine the usefulness of motion correction (MC) processing, equine bone scintigrams were evaluated using Scheffé’s method of paired comparisons. A significant difference in evaluation scores was detected by analysis of variance (F test, P<0.01). According to all observers, Yardstick analysis scores were higher for images use of MC processing than for those no use of MC processing, for all parts. Overall scores of 5 observers were as follows: without MC 100% acquisition time (AT, lowest), use of MC with 25% AT, MC 50% AT, MC 75% AT and MC 100% AT (highest). 乳牛のビタミンB群製剤の適正な補給を目的に、健康牛(泌乳中期および乾乳期)と新生子牛のビタミンB1、B2、B6、B12の血中濃度を測定した。泌乳中期群(n=5)ではB1、B2、B6、B12の血中濃度は51.2±1.2ng/ml、92.1±3.9ng/ml、37.8±1.7ng/ml、220.2±16.3pg/ml、乾乳期群(n=4)では39.5±3.3ng/ml、75.2±4.6ng/ml、42.6±2.2ng/ml、406.8±48.1pg/mlで、泌乳中期群と比較してB1、B2で低値、B12で高値(p<0.05)を示した。新生子牛群(n=9)では、出生直後のビタミンB1、B2、B6、B12の血中濃度は47.0±3.6ng/ml、169.9±6.7ng/ml、4.1±0.2ng/ml、357.4±44.2pg/mlで、生後20日目では30.0±1.4ng/ml、130.9±6.4ng/ml、16.5±0.6ng/ml、230.4±13.9pg/mlを示し、ビタミンB6を除くビタミンB群の血中濃度は生後漸減した。 以上の成績から飼養状況および個体の状況により血中濃度が異なるため、適正な補給に当たっては対象牛のビタミンB群の血中濃度を把握し、今回の測定値を参考として適量の薬用量の決定が必要であると考えられた。Blood concentrations of the vitamin B complex (B1,B2,B6,and B12) were measured in healthy cows both during the lactation period and during the non-lactation period,and in calves from 1 to 20 days... |

The aim of this study was to assess the measurement of bone mineral density (BMD) by quantitative computed tomography (QCT), comparing the relationships of BMD between QCT and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and between QCT and radiographic absorptiometry (RA) in the metacarpal bone of Holstein dairy cows (n=27). A significant positive correlation was found between QCT and DXA measurements (r=0.70, P<0.01), and a significant correlation was found between QCT and RA measurements (r=0.50, P<0.01). We conclude that QCT provides quantitative evaluation of BMD in dairy cows, because BMD measured by QCT showed positive correlations with BMD measured by the two conventional methods: DXA and RA. |

In this equine study, we used an MDCT unit and a trestle for large animals to assess the utility of MDCT in the diagnosis locomotor system disorders and problems in the head and spine. We used a mature thoroughbred horse under general anesthesia and 5 specimens. For specimens, MDCT images were compared with other images taken by a computed radiography X-ray unit. In the live horse, use of the trestle for large animals enabled scanning under general anesthesia. In specimens, MDCT created 3D images of the fractured lesions and evaluation of multiple cross-sectional and sagittal images was possible. 福島第一原子力発電所から20km圏内で飼育されていた交雑種豚が,事故17日後に清浄区域へ移動し,移動41日後に試料が採材された。Ge半導体検出器を用いて,バラ,モモ,ロース及び心臓のγ線スペクトルを測定したところ,放射性セシウムの存在が確認された。被検豚は移動前後ともに豚舎で飼育され,生涯汚染のない輸入飼料で飼養されていた。牛肉の放射能汚染の原因は汚染された稲藁と報道されているが,稲藁だけが汚染の原因ではない可能性がある。次世代のために,食の安全の観点から牛肉のみならず他の畜産物についても監視が必要である。 |

ハタケシメジ抽出物の白血球数調節作用を調べる目的でハタケシメジ抽出物を経口投与し,カルボプラチン投与後の骨髄抑制作用の違いを5週間にわたる経時的な血液検査により検討した。その結果,総白血球数および好中球数においてハタケシメジ抽出物投与群がプラセボ投与群に対して有意に高値を示した。このことより,カルボプラチンによる骨髄抑制に対して,ハタケシメジ抽出物が白血球数減少抑制作用を有することが確認された。 In order to elucidate the suppressive effect of Hatakeshimeji (Lyophyllum decastes Sing.) extract on leukocytopenia,the degree of carboplatin-induced myelosuppression was compared between two groups of dogs; each group was daily given Hatakeshimeji extract or only its placebo for 5 weeks,and on day 7, carboplatin,an anticancer agent,was given intravenously to all dogs.
