Yield trials of sugarcane under diverse conditions are the important step of breeding procedure which can be identified the suitable variety for growing in each agro-ecological zone. The sugarcane varieties i.e. KKU99-01 and KKU99-02 were used to compare with UT94-2-483, UT95-2-156 and KK94-2-200 and 2 check varieties, K84-200 and K88-92. The trials were laid out in RCB, 4 replications, 1.20 x 0.50 m spacing and plot size 8.0x 4.8 m. Fertilizer (15-15-15) at the rate of 100 kg/rai was applied twice, basal application and about 4 months after planting. White leaf is the most important disease of sugarcane in Thailand. To control the disease, the recommendations are to use clean seed and roguing the infected plants. Choosing planting date is one of the practical measures. The experiment was conducted in farmer’s field in Ratchaburi province where white leaf disease is commonly found. Split plot with 4 replications was used as experimental design. Main plots consisted of 3 planting dates; 17th January, 19th March and 2rd August 2007. Subplots consisted of three sugarcane varieties; K88-92, Suphanburi80 and U-thong8. The plant crop was harvested at 12 months old (except for the August planted cut at 10 months old due to lodging). Characteristics of soils along footslope of limestone mountain were studied in farmer field used for growing sugarcane in Wangdong subdistrict, Muang district, Kanchanaburi province.
