Genetic selection of maize hybrids is often conducted using high N rates during the breeding cycle. This procedure may either lead to the release of genotypes that present nitrogen luxury consumption or require a stronger N input to accomplish their yield potential. This work was carried out to evaluate the effects of N rates on grain yield and N use efficiency of hybrids cultivated in different decades in Southern Brazil. The trial was performed in Lages, Santa Catarina State. A split plot design was used. Hybrids Ag 12, Ag 28, Ag 303 and Ag 9012, released during the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's, respectively, were evaluated in the main plots. Nitrogen rates equivalent to 0, 50, 100 and 200 kg ha-1 were side-dressed in the split-plots when each hybrid had... |

ABSTRACT: Improper management of weeds is one of the causes of low bean yield, as it is very susceptible to interference due to their slow initial growth. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of dayflower on grain yield and nutrient accumulation of bean cultivars. The experiment was carried out in a screened house, in 5 L pots, in a 2 x 4 factorial scheme. Factor 1 corresponded to the presence or absence of weeds, and factor 2 bean cultivars: BRS Pontal, BRS Agreste, BRS Ametista and BRS Estilo. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with five replications. The coexistence of bean and weed was maintained throughout the crop cycle. Chlorophyll content, number of pods per plant, number of grains per plant, nutrients contents (N -... |

ABSTRACT: The knowledge on the mechanism that gives a weed resistance to a particular herbicide is essential regarding scientific, academic, and practical aspects because it determines the recommendations for prevention and management of resistance in the field. Studies on the sourgrass (Digitaria insularis) glyphosate resistance mechanism in the literature have not been conclusive. Thus, the aim of this research was to study and evaluate the putative resistance mechanisms whichgives sourgrass biotypes, the ability to survive after glyphosate application. For this, 14C-glyphosate leaf absorption and translocation were compared in the biotypes Matão (R), Campo Florido (MG), Diamantino (MT), and Iracemápolis (S) as a function of the time after its... |

The effects of the dietary substitution of dry corn by high-moisture corn grain silage (HMCGS) were evaluated on the performance, nutrient digestibility and serum biochemical parameters of broilers reared in an alternative production system and submitted to different environmental temperatures. A total of 288 one-day-old male Cobb chicks were distributed according to a randomized block design in a 3x4 factorial arrangement: three environmental temperatures (hot, thermoneutral or cold) and four levels of HMCGS in substitution of dry corn (0%, 20%, 40% or 60%). The acid analysis showed that the evaluated HMCGS contained average percentage values of ethanol, lactic acid, and acetic acid (expressed in 100% of dry matter) of 0.7690, 2.7320 and 0.0249%,... |

ABSTRACT Information on plant nutrient extraction is of utmost importance for the management of fertilization in crops. The objective of the study was to determine the accumulation of dry matter mass in the tubers and aerial parts of the plants and to generate absorption curves of macronutrients N, P, K, Ca and Mg for the potato varieties Ágata, Asterix, Atlantic and Taurus. The shoot and tuber samples were collected at 6, 13, 54, 66, 70, 82 and 97 days after planting. The highest accumulation of dry matter was observed in the Asterix and Atlantic varieties. The varieties Asterix and Atlantic showed higher N and K extraction and, consequently, higher productivity, while Taurus and Ágata presented lower yields and nutrient extraction. The period of greatest... |

Abstract The aim of the present research was to know the shelf life of dehydrated tropical fruits based on an indirect type solar dryer, which was designed and developed under the conditions of Calceta, Bolívar canton of Manabí province, Ecuador. Due to the banana fruit physical and chemical characteristics exhibited during the process of dehydration by radiation, satisfactory results were obtained, superior to those obtained in fruits of mamey and pineapple. For example, moisture in banana with 80.22% dropped to 10.35%; in relation to protein ratio, which had achieved an increasing from 1.27% in its fresh state to 2.18% and in fiber contents from 0.88% in its fresh state to 2.41%. The microbiological analyzes determined the shelf life of the estimated... |

Abstract The aim of this research was to evaluate two traditional N sources (urea and ammonium sulfate) and an alternative one (sulfamoo) with increasing rates (0, 40, 80, 120 and 160 kg N ha-1, respectively) affecting aspects of upland rice crop cv. IAPAR 117. The experiment was carried out in greenhouse conditions, using a completely randomized design in 3x4 factorial scheme, with four replicates. It was evaluated the number of tillers (NT), plant mean height (PMH), dry matter of shoots (DMS), crop yield/mass of filled grains (MFG), content of N-DMS, agronomic efficiency of nitrogen (AE), mass of 100 filled grains (M100FG) and grain harvest index (GHI). The nitrogen rates application as ammonium sulfate resulted in a greater increasing of NT, DMS, MFG... |

Abstract Gold phytoextraction is a technology used to obtain this metal (Au) throughout plants. Some of the benefits of this technology are the mitigation of the environmental impact, the fact that it does not imply the constant use of pollutants, and has the ability to promote soil reclamation. The aim of this research was to determine if Brachiaria decumbens has the potential to improve soil physical properties while had achieved a gold extraction. For this purpose, Helianthus annuus and Brachiaria decumbens, were used in a completely randomized design with four replicates. To induce gold uptake, ammonium thiocyanate was applied to plants. The statistical analysis was performed using the R-Studio software. Finally, it became evident that B. decumbens is... |

BRS 304. A fonte sulfato promoveu maior... |

The aim of this study was to evaluate the rate absorption of radio-labeled chromium oxide (51Cr2O3), used as biological marker in nutrition studies with Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus. An experimental diet with approximately 58 µCi of specific activity of the element was encapsulated and fed daily to 35 adult Nile tilapia; a group of 35 fish was used as control feeding on a basal diet. At the beginning of the experiment five fish from each group were randomly selected and blood samples were drawn from control (BC) and experimental fish (BE). Fish were then euthanized by anesthetic overdoses and samples of the liver tissue (LT), renal tissue (RT), stomach without content (S), intestine without content (I), gills tissue (GT), muscle tissue (fillet; MT),... |
