Effects of shading on leaf physiology and morphology in the ‘Yinhong’ grape plants Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Wu,Yueyan; Qiu,Tian; Shen,ZiLi; Wu,Yanyan; Lu,Dan; He,Jingwen.
Abstract Shading is a practical measure to reduce the heat stress to grape trees in the summer. However, inappropriate shading will cause the reduction in leaf photosynthesis and consequently the retardation of growth for the plants or the loss of fruit yield and quality for the mature grape trees. In this study we have used 1-year-old ‘YinHong’ grape plants growing under different levels of shading, ranging from full sunlight 0% to 80% reduction, to investigate their growth, physiological and biochemical responses. The results show that shading rate =45% did not significantly affect grape growth. Shading over 45% reduction of the full sunlight, the growth of the grape plants were started to be inhibited. In addition, soluble protein content, the...

Diversity and genetic relatedness among genotypes of Vitis spp. using microsatellite molecular markers Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Leão,Patrícia Coelho de Souza; Cruz,Cosme Damião; Motoike,Sérgio Yoshimitsu.
The purpose of this research was to study the genetic diversity and genetic relatedness of 60 genotypes of grapevines derived from the Germplasm Bank of Embrapa Semiárido, Juazeiro, BA, Brazil. Seven previously characterized microsatellite markers were used: VVS2, VVMD5, VVMD7, VVMD27, VVMD3, ssrVrZAG79 and ssrVrZAG62. The expected heterozygosity (He) and polymorphic information content (PIC) were calculated, and the cluster analysis were processed to generate a dendrogram using the algorithm UPGMA. The He ranged from 81.8% to 88.1%, with a mean of 84.8%. The loci VrZAG79 and VVMD7 were the most informative, with a PIC of 87 and 86%, respectively, while VrZAG62 was the least informative, with a PIC value of 80%. Cluster analysis by UPGMA method allowed...

Rootstock-scion interaction:6. Phenology, chilling and heat requirements of Cabernet Sauvignon grapevine Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Miele,Alberto.
Abstract The grapevine phenology is dependent on several factors, such as genetics, soil characteristics, climate conditions, pests and diseases and vineyard cultural practices. Among these, grafting may have an effect on the scion behavior due to the influence of the rootstock. Therefore, an experiment was carried out for two years to determine the effect of rootstocks on Cabernet Sauvignon (CS) grapevine phenology, chilling and heat requirements. Treatments consisted of vines grafted on the rootstocks Rupestris du Lot, 101-14 Mgt, 3309 C, 420A Mgt, 5BB K, 161-49 C, SO4, Solferino, 1103 P, 99 R, 110 R, Gravesac, Fercal, Dogridge and Isabel. Budbreak and flowering of the vines, veraison and maturity of the grapes were the phenological stages evaluated,...

Genetic diversity of table grape based on morphoagronomic traits Scientia Agricola
Leão,Patrícia Coelho de Souza; Cruz,Cosme Damião; Motoike,Sérgio Yoshimitsu.
The conservation and characterization of grape (Vitis spp) genetic resources in germplasm banks have been the basis of its use in breeding programs that result in development of new cultivars. There are at least 10,000 grape cultivars kept in germplasm collection. The genetic diversity in 136 table grape accessions from the state of Bahia, Brazil, was evaluated. Continuous and discrete morphoagronomic traits were assessed. The clustering analysis by the Tocher otimization method resulted in 30 clusters (considering continuous morphoagronomic traits), and 9 clusters (taking into consideration multicategorical traits). There was no agreement between clusters obtained by both, continuous or discrete phenotypic descriptors, independent of the cluster method...

Trough and pot crop systems with leaching recirculation and defoliation levels for mini tomatoes Agronomy
Perin, Lais; Peil, Roberta Marins Nogueira; Höhn, Daniela; Rosa, Douglas Schulz Bergman da; Wieth, Albertina Radtke; Grolli, Paulo Roberto.
The use of raw rice husk as substrate allows the use of crop systems that promote the recirculation of leachate in long crop cycles. Mini tomatoes present relatively low demand for photoassimilates. Thus, partial defoliation of the sympodium could benefit the crop without damage to the production or quality of the fruits. The objective of this work was to evaluate the plant growth, fruit yield and fruit quality of Cherry Hybrid Wanda and Grape Hybrid Dolcetto mini tomatoes cultivated in two recirculation crop systems (pots and troughs), using raw rice husk as substrate, under three defoliation conditions (without defoliation, removal of one and two leaves of the sympodium). The Cherry cultivar showed higher plant growth, fruit yield and mean fruit size....

Grape quality mapping for vineyard differential harvesting BABT
Santos,Antonio Odair; Wample,Robert L.; Sachidhanantham,Sivakumar; Kaye,Oren.
An experiment was carried out from 2005 to 2008, to calibrated NIR-based instrumentation and explore within field grape quality variability and map potential grape quality descriptors along vineyards, as a subsidy for differential harvesting,. The quality indicators (anthocyanin content, pH, titratable acidity and soluble solids) were subject to geo-spatial modeling. Subsequently, the data set was utilized to delineate "within-field" grape quality zone and to determine the timing of the harvest. Differential machine harvesting was implemented and segregation of wine grapes was done "on-the-go". The approach for field prediction of grape quality parameters and zone delineation allowed for separated fermentation for at least two wine styles.

Oliveira,Renata Cabrera de; Bando,Érika; Machinski Junior,Miguel.
The aim of this work was to optimize and validate, by intralaboratorial procedures, a method for the determination of patulin in grapes by thin-layer chromatography. The steps of extraction, cleanup, detection and quantification were optimized. For the validation of the method, recovery assays with standard solutions and artificially contaminated samples were carried out. The mean recovery and the variation coefficient were 65.4% and 7.58%, respectively. The optimized conditions were: 50 mL of grape juice, three extraction stages (with 100 mL of ethyl acetate in the first stage and 50 mL in second and third stages), and 100 µL of ethanol to solubilize the extract. The solvent-system used was toluene - ethyl acetate - formic acid (6:3:1), and 0.5% MBTH in...

Peroxidase (POD) and polyphenoloxidase (PPO) in grape (Vitis vinifera L.) Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Troiani,Estela de Pieri; Tropiani,Clariza Tomé; Clemente,Edmar.
The enzimatic activity of peroxidase (POD) and polyphenoloxidase (PPO) extracted from three grape cultivars (Vitis vinifera L.), cultivated in Marialva city, state of Paraná, was evaluated in this study. The enzymatic extracts were prepared starting from the Rubi, Borbon and Benitaka grape cultivars pulp and peel. The activity of the peroxidase was 53.00 units/100 g in the extract from the Rubi cultivar peel, and 327.00 units/100 g from the Benitaka cultivar, these values being superior to those observed in the same cultivars pulp extracts, which were 7.67 units/100 g and 44.00 units/100 g respectively. However, the result was opposite in the Borbon cultivar, with values of 141.11 units/100 g in the pulp and 11.50 units/100 g in the peel being found. The...
