The experiment was conducted to determine the effect of nutrient management and no-tillage system on rice growth and yield of rice. Experimental design was a randomized complete block with 4 replicates comprised 5 treatments: 1) Control (Conventional tillage and recommended fertilizer application) 2) Conventional tillage with sunn hemp incorporation 3) Conventional tillage with rice straw incorporation 4) No tillage with sunn hempmulching and 5) No tillage with rice straw mulching. All treatments received the same rate of N at 18.6 kg N per rai. The result showed that conventional tillage with sunn hemp incorporation had highest rice dry weight and was significantly different as compare to conventional tillage (control). Also, the conventional tillage...

An effective nutrient management for plant cane production on sandy soil was investigated. This aimed to be a guideline of fertilizer recommendation for plant cane production on sandy soil in the Northeast of Thailand. The experiment was conducted in Ban Phai soil series at Khon Kaen Province. The experimental design was split-split plot with 3 replications. Main plots comprised 1) without soil amendment and 2) amendment with 100 kg/rai of dolomite and 1,000 kg/rai of filtercake compost. Subplots consisted of Khon Kaen 3 and LK92-11 sugarcane varieties. Sub-subplots were fertilizer application levels i.e. 0-6-18, 9-6-18, 18-6-18, and 27-6-18 kg N-P2O5-K2O/rai. The results showed that average yield of plant cane grown on infertile Ban Phai soil series...

การประเมินความต้องการธาตุอาหารหลักของข้าวนาขั้นบันไดโดยวิธี Omission plot technique Thai Agricultural
Apiwat Hantanapong; Satid Pinmanee.
Converting Upland Rice Fields to Rice Terraces in slope area is one of an alternative rice planting system for sustainable rice cultivation on the mountainous area in the upper northern of Thailand. It can produce double yield compared with those of upland rice. However, soil fertility should be considered when first converted. Therefore, rice nutrient management by Omission Plot Technique has been studied. Results in wet season 2554 found that yield from applying phosphorus in combination with potassium chemical fertilizer (+PK or -N) was not significantly different from applying nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium combination (+NPK) and as same as non phosphorus (+NK or -P) or non potassium application (+NP or -K) in which always showed significantly...

Response of sugarcane to nutrient management on clayey soil in central region of Thailand was studied. The purpose was to obtain a systematic effective fertilizer recommendation for sugarcane production. This study was set up in 2 soil series, i.e. 1) Lamnarai soil series at Paisali District, Nakhon Sawan Province, and 2) Lop Buri soil series at Takfa District, Nakhon Sawan Province. An experiment on Lamnarai soils was statistical designed in split-split plot with 3 replications which main plots consisted of 1) without soil amendment and 2) amendment with 100 kg/rai of sulfur. Sub plots comprised clone 94-2-106 and LK92-11 sugarcane variety.Sub sub plots were fertilizer application rates i.e. 0-6-6, 6-6-6, 12-6-6 and 18-6-6 kg N-P2O5-K2O/rai. Another...

Increasing resource use efficiency is crucial for enhancement of agricultural productions and reducing environmental hazards. For this purpose, improvement of Nitrogen use efficiency is an effective approach. Not only N loss occurs in field but also in processing course of food utilization. The objective of this study was to evaluate N loss and efficiency from production to consumption for wheat and maize. For this purpose, data for the amount of applied nitrogen, acreage, yields, amount of returned residue were collected and a proportion of N allocated to different source of food or feed was also traced. Results showed that total N harvested by wheat and maize were 387 and 81.7 kt and N use efficiency for the same crops were 25 and 60%, respectively....

Chemical properties of volcanic soil affected by seven-year rotations Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Hirzel,Juan; Undurraga,Pablo; González,Jorge.
Long-term crop rotation systems can benefit soil chemical-physical properties and crop productivity. The lack of information on the effect of long-term crop rotations on soil chemical-physical properties for volcanic soils in Chile could restrict reaping real benefits, and make it difficult to take agricultural management decisions, which could lead to possible negative consequences on some soil chemical-physical properties and the environment. The development of information associated with the effect on soil chemical-physical properties with respect to long-term rotation systems and their fertilization management contribute to improving agronomic management decisions for these soils. A study was carried out to assess the effect of six rotation systems...
