Morpho-physiological changes in Billbergia zebrina due to the use of silicates in vitro Anais da ABC (AABC)
MARTINS,ADALVAN D.; MARTINS,JOÃO PAULO R.; BATISTA,LUCAS A.; DIAS,GABRIELEN M.G.; ALMEIDA,MIRIELLE O.; PASQUAL,MOACIR; SANTOS,HELOÍSA O. DOS.
Abstract The use of silicon in Billbergia zebrina cultivation in vitro is an alternative for optimizing micropropagation of this important ornamental plant species. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the growth and anatomical and physiological alterations in Billbergia zebrina (Herbert) Lindley plants as a function of different sources and concentrations of silicon during in vitro cultivation and acclimatization. The experimental design was completely randomized, with a double factorial arrangement and an additional control treatment (2 x 3 + 1). The first factor was relative to calcium silicate and sodium silicate added to the Murashige & Skoog culture medium; the second factor was related to its concentrations, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 mg...

Planting spacing and NK fertilizing on physiological indexes and fruit production of papaya under semiarid climate Bragantia
Santos,Eduardo Monteiro; Silva Júnior,Gabriel Barbosa da; Cavalcante,Ítalo Herbert Lucena; Marques,Adenaleson Sousa; Albano,Francisca Gislene.
ABSTRACT The nutritional requirements of papaya (Carica papaya L.) increase continuously throughout the crop cycle, especially for potassium and nitrogen, which are the most required nutrients and act on plant vital functions such as photosynthetic activity, respiration, transpiration and stomatal regulation. An experiment was conducted from November 2010 to December 2012 to evaluate physiological indexes and fruit production of papaya cv. Caliman-01 as a function of planting spacing and NK fertilizing. The experimental design consisted of randomized blocks, with treatments distributed in a factorial arrangement (2 × 4 × 4), using 2 planting spacing [simple rows (3.8 × 2.0 m) and double rows (3.8 × 2.0 × 1.8 m)], 4 nitrogen doses (320, 400, 480 and 560 g...

Morphological alterations of corn (Zea mays L.) plants in response to aluminum toxicity in the soil BABT
Souza,José Roberto Pinto de; Guimarães,Maria Fátima de; Muller,Marcelo Marques Lopes; Santos,Carlos Henrique dos.
The objective of the experiment was to identify the morphological alterations in corn genotypes in response to aluminum toxicity in the soil. A complete randomized block design with five replications was used. The a factorial scheme was composed of two corn genotypes (C525M - tolerant, and HS701B - sensitive) and two neutralization levels (0% and 100% of aluminum saturation). The evaluations were performed at six leaf and 10-11 leaf growth stages, emergence of the "stigma-style", and the physiological maturity. The presence of toxic aluminum didn’t significantly reduce diameter and height of stem, leaf area, dry matter of aerial parts, total dry matter and yield. Stem diameter, leaf area, dry matter of root, dry matter of aerial parts, total dry matter and...
