Achterberg, C. van.
The species of the genus Canalicephalus Gibson, 1977, are revised and eight new species are described (three from East Malaysia (Sabah), and five from Indonesia (three from Sulawesi, one from Java and from Halmahera). Three new species of Dendrochilum (Orchidaceae) and their phylogenetic positions according to plastid and nuclear ribosomal ITS sequences 16
Pedersen, H.A.; Gravendeel, B.; Mudiana, D..
Three new species of the Southeast Asian orchid genus Dendrochilum Blume are described. All three seem to belong to the phenetically defined subgenus Platyclinis (Benth.) Pfitzer. As indicated by the name, D. celebesense H.A. Pedersen & Gravend. originates from Sulawesi. The geographic origins of D. coccineum H.A. Pedersen & Gravend. and D. warrenii H.A. Pedersen & Gravend., on the other hand, are unknown, but parsimony analyses of sequences of the plastid accD-psaI intergenic spacer and nuclear ribosomal ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 region and morphological affinities suggest they should both be counted as members of the Philippine flora.

Cheek, M.; Jebb, M..
Nepenthes section Tentaculatae of Borneo and Sulawesi is described and delimited, with a key to the nine species, including N. maryae of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, which is here assessed as Vulnerable under criterion D2 using the 2001 IUCN standard. It is hypothesised that this species might trap insects using a ‘flick of the lid’ mechanism.

First record of a Tachaea species from Sulawesi (Indonesia) with description of its manca stage (Isopoda, Flabellifera, Corallanidae) 16
Bowman, Thomas E.; Botosaneanu, Lazare.
A corallanid isopod in the manca stage (lacking pereopod 7), collected from alluvial gravel along the Batui River in Sulawesi, Indonesia, and identified questionably as Tachaea lacustris Weber, 1892, is illustrated and described in detail. Tachaea lacustris was known previously only from freshwater lakes in Sumatra and Java. Its presence in river alluvial gravel should not be interpreted as possible adaptation to the hyporheic habitat.

Reef-dwelling Holothuroidea (Echinodermata) of the Spermonde Archipelago (South-West Sulawesi, Indonesia) 16
Massin, C..
During a survey at the Spermonde Archipelago (22.viii-5.x.1994) 56 holothurian species were collected; ten are new to the fauna of Indonesia and one is new to science: Stichopus quadrifasciatus spec. nov. Most of the species are described, figured and discussed. As far as possible, all literature records from 1970 onwards are listed and a distribution map is given for each species.

Tomasovic, G.; Achterberg, C. van.
Three new species of the genus Irianjaya Koçak & Kemal, 2009 (Diptera: Asilidae: Asilinae) from Indonesia are described and partly illustrated. Revision of the Malesian species of Lobelia section Rhynchopetalum (Campanulaceae: Lobelioideae) 16
Lammers, Th.G..
Detailed morphological study of specimens of Lobelia sect. Rhynchopetalum from Malesia revealed that this material could be divided into five species, all endemic to the region: L. philippinensis (three subspecies) and L. proctorii, endemic to the Philippines; L. sulawesiensis, sp. nov., endemic to Sulawesi; L. sumatrana, endemic to Sumatera; and L. eryliae, with one subspecies in the Philippines and the other in Sulawesi. A key is provided for distinguishing these taxa and each is described fully.

Notes on the taxonomy and ecology of the genus Hoya (Asclepiadaceae) in Central Sulawesi 16
Kleijn, David; Donkelaar, Ruurd van.
The taxonomy and ecology of the genus Hoya R.Br, are unclear, especially in the core area of its distribution: Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi and Irian Jaya. This paper summarises the available information on the ecology of Hoya species, and describes eight species from central Sulawesi. An important ecological trait of many Hoya species is their association with ants. Four types of mutualistic relationships with ants occur in the genus: 1) species with specialised leaves to house ants; 2) a single species that provides housing for ants under imbricate leaves; 3) species growing on the carton of ant nests; and 4) species that root in ant inhabited cavities in tree trunks and branches. Four of the eight described species grew in association with ants (types...

New hydroptilid caddisfly species from southern Sulawesi (Insecta: Trichoptera: Hydroptilidae) 16
Wells, A.; Huisman, J..
Six new species of micro-caddisfly (Trichoptera: Hydroptilidae) are described from southern Sulawesi in the genera Chrysotrichia (1 species), Niuginitrichia (1, being the first record of Niuginitrichia outside New Guinea), Hydroptila (1) and Orthotrichia (3). The faunal list for Sulawesi is increased further by addition of a second widespread SE Asian species of Oxyethira and three other species of Orthotrichia; and distributions of several species previously recorded from the island are extended. Thirty-one hydroptilid species in eight genera are now recorded for Sulawesi; a ninth genus is listed, but solely on the basis of larvae.
