ROMANIAN INSURANCE BUSINESS TRENDS AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRISIS EFFECTS ON IT AgEcon
Joldes, Cosmin; Horobet, Alexandra.
Is it interesting a 2 billion euro insurance market for the “old” Europe? “Not very much” one may say considering this figure represents no more than 16% of the insurance turn-over in the case of the most recent entry in the Romanian market, Groupama. The answer is still not as simple as that because “interesting” in business terms is not only about today, but very much about tomorrow. By the end of 2007 it was obvious that the Romanian insurance market is far from calming down. Not only that for the time being change is still the main real constant in use, but figures show that the market environment becomes more challenging than ever these days. The market situation showed that this allegation it was by that time more likely to be true than ever.

Zöldség- és gyümölcs-nagykereskedelem Hollandiában AgEcon
Jasso, Katalin.
Hollandiában is a piacot a fogyasztók igényei irányítják.

GRADES/CLASSES OF HARD WHEAT EXPORTED FROM THE UNITED STATES: ANALYSIS OF DEMAND AND TRENDS 1986-2003 AgEcon
Dahl, Bruce L.; Wilson, William W..
Questions have emerged in the United States and Canada regarding the role and function of quality in international markets. One has been the definition and composition of different market segments, with a particular focus on higher quality customers. In this study, trends in U.S. wheat exports are analyzed by class, grade, protein, and market segment. Analysis shows trends toward increases in exports of higher grades of Hard Amber Durum (HAD) and Hard Red Spring (HRS); whereas, exports of higher quality grades for Hard Red Winter (HRW) appear to be moderate. Exports of HRS, HRW, and HAD show increases in proportion of exports shipped at higher protein levels and increases in the proportion of exports where protein is specified. Cluster analysis for...

Socially responsible business formation in Ukraine AgEcon
Shapoval, Valentina.
The paper reviews development process of social responsibility of business in Ukraine during transition of its economy to market. Today social responsibility of business is understood by national entrepreneurs as marketing or PR-technology, this way it is limited to social events. In this interpretation the concept can not support stable development both at micro- and macro level and provide competitive edge for enterprises in the longer term. The author suggests possible scenarios for developing of social responsibility of business in the crisis.

Modernization trends in the dairy industry: milk quality monitoring by somatic cell counts MV&Z
Langoni, Hélio.
The dairy industry suffers heavy losses as a result of mastitis, the main infection of dairy cattle. Itsmultiple etiology makes prophylaxis very difficult. The present study reflects the importance ofmastitis control, and discusses aspects of the somatic cell counts in the monitoring of the mammarygland's health, with the objective of obtaining better quality milk, with less infection risks forconsumers, because both milk and dairy products can transmit zoonosis agents.

Trend Analysis of Reference Evapotranspiration; Case Study of Asaba and Uyo, South-South Nigeria CIGR Journal
Alabi, Habeeb Adedotun; Ewemoje, Temitayo Abayomi; Umego, Okwunna Maryjane.
Temporal trend analysis of monthly mean RET estimates using FAO-56 PM model was performed using the Non-Parametric Mann-Kendall (MK) and Sen’s test for Asaba and Uyo over the period of 41 and 35 years respectively. In Asaba, reference evapotranspiration (RET or ETo) showed an overall increasing trend ranging from MK Z values of 0.80 to 2.93 except for June (-0.75) and September (-1.16) which declined insignificantly. For Uyo, RET showed an insignificant decreasing trend (P>0.1) with MK Z values ranging from -0.09 to -1.65 except for November (0.91) which insignificantly increased at P>0.1. For detailed evaluation of the trends, RET was separated into aerodynamic and radiation terms and their trend analysis were performed. In Asaba, the...

General description of some meteo-marine variables of surface waters adjacent to the Palmer Archipelago, Antarctic Peninsula, during 1979-2018 based on Era5 data Boletín de Investigaciones
Hernández Duarte,Margorie Alexandra; Villegas Bolaños,Nancy Liliana; Concha Perdomo,Ana Elena.
ABSTRACT Aspatial and temporal description of meteo-marine parameters for 1979-2018 period of the marine region surrounding the Palmer Archipelago, located West of the Antarctic Peninsula (WAP), is presented. The used information was extracted from the ERA5 reanalysis. Air Temperature (Ta), Total Precipitation (TP) and Sea Surface Temperature (SST) showed a general increase over the last 40 years in the study region. The highest increase of Ta, TP and SST values were recorded north of Gerlache Strait, followed by Bismarck Strait. It was evidenced that Sea Ice Cover (SIC) has decreased mostly north of Palmer Archipelago. The existence of a local differentiation of meteo-marine conditions around the Palmer Archipelago was identified. The climatology of five...

Trends in bacterial resistance in a tertiary university hospital over one decade BJID
Góngora Rubio,Fernando; Oliveira,Viviane Decicera Colombo; Rangel,Regina Mara Custódio; Nogueira,Mara Corrêa Lelles; Almeida,Margarete Teresa Gottardo.
The objective of this study was to investigate bacterial resistance trends, infection sites and the relationship between resistance and admittance to the intensive care unit (ICU). A total of 53,316 bacteria identified between 1999 and 2008 were evaluated. Multidrug resistance was characterized when gram-negative bacilli (GNB) presented resistance to two or more classes of antibiotics. Gram-positive cocci (CPC) were assessed for resistance to penicillin, oxacillin and vancomycin. GNB were the most common (66.1%) isolate. There was a 3.7-fold overall increase in multidrug resistant GNB over the study period; Acinetobacter baumanii and Staphylococcus aureus were the most prevalent. Highest increases were recorded for Kleb siella pneumoniae (14.6-fold) and...

Trends in drug use among students in Brazil: analysis of four surveys in 1987, 1989, 1993 and 1997 BJMBR
Galduróz,J.C.F.; Noto,A.R.; Nappo,S.A.; Carlini,E.A..
The consumption of psychotropic drugs among Brazilian secondary school students was examined by comparing data from four surveys using a questionnaire adapted from the WHO's Program on Research and Reporting on the Epidemiology of Drug Dependence. Students filled out the form in their classrooms without the presence of teachers. The target population consisted of 10-18-year-old students (on average, 15,000 students responded to each survey) in Brazil's ten largest state capitals: Belém, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and São Paulo. Among the legal drugs, lifetime use (use at least once during life) of tobacco was increased in seven cities (the exceptions were Brasília, Porto Alegre and Rio de...
