| No Estado do Acre não existem produtores especializados em mudas de hortaliças, as quais são feitas quase que na sua totalidade pelo sistema mais tradicional e antigo, ou seja, em sementeira, uma vez que grande parte dos produtores desconhece os demais sistemas. Portanto, procurou-se reunir alguns dos mais importantes sistemas de produção de mudas de hortaliças atualmente utilizados, para suprir a carência de informações e auxiliar o sistema produtivo a desenvolver-se e tornar-se mais eficiente, proporcionando mais benefícios aos produtores de hortaliças do Estado do Acre. |

| Hepatitis A virus (HAV) and norovirus are important agents of food-borne human viral illness, with common vehicles including bivalve molluscan shellfish, soft fruit and various vegetables. Outbreaks of viral illness due to contamination of the surfaces of foods, or food preparation surfaces by for example infected food handlers are also common. | Despite its association with important agricultural crops, Phytophthora clade 8b is a poorly studied group of species. The clade currently consists of three officially described species (Phytophthora porri, P. brassicae and P. primulae) that are host-specific pathogens of leek, cabbages and Primula spp., respectively. However, over the past few decades, several other clade 8b-like Phytophthoras have been found on a variety of different host plants that were all grown at low temperatures in winter seasons. | The district of Southern Savo produces 8% of Finnish vegetables. The compatibility of vegetable producers, both organic and conventional, should be improved or maintained, in order to fulfil the demand of industry, catering sector and retail market. The agenda of the project contains: improvement of production efficacy by better adjusted cultivation techniques, new cultivars and new vegetables, and active marketing. The project organizes farm trials, extension services, seminars and field days for the producers. Meetings between suppliers and purchasers shall be organized to negotiate new ways of co-operation. | Selenium (Se) and glucosinolates has been found to have beneficial effects for human health. The most common way to increase Se and glucosinolates in plants is through using inorganic fertilizers however, concerns over environmental contamination by fertilizers increased the demand for sustainable produced foods. Thus, the aim of this project was to evaluate the efficiency of different crop management strategies (catch crops, intercropping) to increase Se and glucosinolates concentrations in plants rather than the application of agrochemicals. | Avaliou-se substâncias alternativas no manejo de tripes (Thrips tabaci Lind.), em cebola, cv, Crioula, no sistema orgânico. Os experimentos foram conduzidos na EPAGRI, Ituporanga (SC). Os períodos entre transplante e colheita foram de 11/09/1996 a 10/01/1997 e 13/08/1997 a 11/12/1997. O delineamento foi de blocos ao acaso com 8 tratamentos em 1996 e 12 tratamentos em 1997 e quatro repetições. | Plant based organic fertilisers were tested in plot trials on their effect as N supply for vegetable crops. Radishes (Raphanus sativus L.) and white cabbage (Brassica d-eracea var. capitata L.) were chosen as fest crops. Beside the unamended control four ({R}adish trial) and two ({C}abbage trial) fertilisers were investigated: Castor pomace (Ricinus communis L), pellets of crushed seeds of lupin (Lupinus luteus L), and faba bean (Vicia faba var. minor L.) and Phytoperls® (Zea mays L). | Um Ertrags- und Qualitätseinbußen zu vermeiden, müssen Gemüsekulturen weitgehend unkrautfrei gehalten werden. Während im Zwischenreihenbereich dieses Ziel mit mechanischen Regulationsmaßnahmen durchaus erreicht werden kann, ist der Bekämpfungserfolg im Reihenbereich der Kulturpflanzen häufig unzureichend. Die hier verbleibenden Unkräuter können bei konkurrenzschwachen Kulturen zu hohen Ertragsausfällen führen.
