Biological results of the snellius expedition XXII. Octocorallia from the Malay Archipelago (Part II) Naturalis
Verseveldt, J..
The material dealt with in this second part of "Octocorallia from the Malay Archipelago" comprises mainly specimens belonging to the family Nephtheidae. Most of these nephtheids were obtained during the cruise of the "Willebrord Snellius". In addition to this material I examined some specimens collected by the Siboga Expedition, which had to be identified or described again. Besides, there were in the Leiden Museum some unidentified colonies, obtained in Malayan waters. These, too, are now recorded. Several authors have already pointed out how difficult it is to identify Dendronephthya, owing to the unsatisfactory description by some previous authors, and because of the great number of variations within the same species. Suffice it to refer to the...

Korte mededeling Naturalis
Sipkes, C..

Naturalis
Haveman, R..
In the Netherlands, usually only one Leucanthemum species is recognised, L. vulgare Lam. Recent field observations suggest that the Leucanthemum species that occurs abundantly in the Netherlands is the tetraploid species L. ircutianum DC instead. A few Dutch specimens in the herbarium collection of Naturalis in L, however, have been identified as belonging to the 'true' diploid L. vulgare. The latter seems to be rare in the Netherlands, and might be confined to a few relict populations.

On the development of the cystocarp in the genus Galaxaura and the auxiliary cells in the order of Nemalionales Naturalis
Svedelius, Nils.
The genus Galaxaura can in several respects be classed among the most remarkable Florideae. It is not only — with Chantransia — the genus richest in forms of all the genera belonging to the order of Nemalionales, which has more than 70 described species, it also offers, both in its interior and its exterior organization, such a high differentiation, and a tissue specialization going so far, that, as the monographer of the genus, the late Professor F.R. Kjellman (1900), said: ”it may be difficult even in the great province of the Florideae to find forms with a higher or even as high a division of labour in the tissues of the shoot...“. Even if the number of species may actually diminish with further investigations, this is in a way connected with a...

Redescription of Oulactis concinnata (Drayton in Dana, 1846) (Cnidaria: Anthozoa: Actiniidae), an actiniid sea anemone from Chile and Perú with special fighting tentacles; with a preliminary revision of the genera with a “frond-like” marginal ruff Naturalis
Häussermann, V..
Two species of sea anemones with a conspicuous marginal ruff of frond-like structures encompassing the tentacular crown occur on the Chilean coast. Oulactis concinnata (= Isoulactis chilensis) (Drayton in Dana, 1846) is re-described in detail and further information is provided for Oulactis coliumensis (Riemann- Zürneck & Gallardo, 1990) (= Saccactis coliumensis) (both Actiniidae). The distribution of O. concinnata from Playa Las Salinas, Perú (9°19’10’’S, 78°26’30’’W), to the region of Valdivia, Chile (39°47’S, 73°21’W), lies within a zoogeographical unit known as the Peruvian Province. Re-description of O. concinnata is based on examination of 10 specimens collected between 1975 and 2003, and on observations of about 50 living anemones in their...

Lijst van de in Nederland voorkomende Levermossen Naturalis
Gradstein, S.R..
The new checklist of Dutch liverworts comprises 126 species, 1 subspecies and 5 varieties. Since 1962 seven liverwort species have been added to the flora: Barbilophozia hatcheri, Calypogeia muellerana, Cephalozia pleniceps, Fossombronia incurva, Haplomitrium hookeri, Lophozia perssonii and Plagiochila porelloides. Of twelve species presumed occurrence in the Netherlands needs verification. Nomenclature follows Grolle’s “Verzeichnis der Lebermoose Europas” (Feddes Repert. 87: 171-279. 1976), except for Isopaches, Leiocolea and Microlejeunea, which are maintained as genera and Phaeoceros carolinianus, Cephalozia lammersiana, Chiloscyphus pallescens, Lophozia silvicola and Lophocolea cuspidata. , which are treated as intraspecific taxa.

On some white-spored Geoglossaceae Naturalis
Maas Geesteranus, R.A..
Some genera of Geoglossaceae, characterized by colourless spores and positive iodine reaction of the ascus pore, are compared with respect to the structure of the stipe. Ochroglossum is reduced to the synonymy of Microglossum. Mitrula is regarded as a monotypic genus. The generic name Heyderia is restored. Thuemenidium is reintroduced to replace Corynetes. Nothomitra is proposed as a new genus to accomodate N. cinnamomea, a new species.

Antennule development during copepodite phase of some representatives of Harpacticoida (Copepoda, Crustacea) Naturalis
Dahms, Hans-Uwe.
The copepodite antennule development of representatives of 6 harpacticoid families is studied and discussed in detail and that of 8 genera of harpacticoids from 7 families is schematically illustrated. Twenty-seven genera out of 17 harpacticoid families are compared on the basis of own investigations and data from the literature. The origin of newly formed segments can be determined by seta numbers of segments, relative segment length, furrows indicating previous articulations and by the position of the segment which bears the proximal aesthetasc. There are 2 zones of segment formation, both located in the middle part of the first antenna. Normal segment formation takes place distally from the second, aesthetasc-bearing segment from C I to C II and...

Two sculptured shell festoons at the exterior of the Oostkerk (built 1647—1667) at Middelburg (Netherlands) are regarded as an expression of the 17th century admiration for the works of Nature, as is equally evident from pictures and poetry of that era.

De dennenorchis (Goodyera repens L.) op Beatrixoord te Appelscha Naturalis
Dekker, H..
The author describes the occurrence of Goodyera repens in a forest near Appelscha (Friesland). This species was found during an investigation of this forest, called Beatrixoord, on behalf of a management and maintenance plan. This area was visited three times and each time Goodyera was found in different parts of Beatrixoord. Goodyera is a rather rare orchid in the Netherlands. The species occours in pine woods on dry sandy soils. In Germany however the species is also found on calcarious soil accompanied by species such as Cephalanthera rubra, Plantanthera chlorantha and Epipactis atrorubens. In the Netherlands Goodyera is accompanied by species of the Vaccinio-Piceetea like Vaccinium vitis-idaea, Listera cordata, Linnaea borealis, Pyrola minor and...
