Filter cake is by - product of cane sugar manufacture. It consists of plant nutrient which is useful for soil fertility improvement. Methane is one of important greenhouse gases emitted from submerged paddy soil under anaerobic condition. The objective of the present experiment was to study the influence of sulfate and urea on methane production in paddy soil. Four rates of sulfate (0, 50, 100 and 210 kg SO42- ha-1) were set up by using ammonium phosphate (16-20-0, 42 % sulfate) with the amount of N, P2O5 and K2O for each treatment being balanced by using urea, rock phosphate and potassium chloride. In addition, soil without urea application was prepared. All soils were incubated in bottles for 21 days in oxygen-free nitrogen ambient. CCS08054-KLG-9-1-1-2-1 is a short duration photoperiod insensitive rice, non-glutinous, and non-aromatic rice line derived from a cross between Chainat 1 and IR40. The single cross hybridization was made in 2008 at Bang Khen Rice Experiment Station (now Chachoengsao Rice Research. F2 to F5 progenies were selected at Klong Luang Rice Reseach Center during 2009-2011.The line CCS08054-KLG-9-1-1-2-1 has an erect and moderately strong culm; 115 cm height on transplanting; 99 days maturity on transplanting. In wet season, rainfed area in Lower Northern of Thailand has has an abundance of soil and water availability which is suitable for growing a photoperiod-sensitive rice with high yield potential. However, favorite rice varieties often have low yield and are susceptible to rice pests. Next Generation Sequencing (NGS): SOLiD System Sequencing Platform was applied to investigate the whole transcriptome of two hybrids (PTT06001H; H1 and PTT06008H: H2), two paternal lines (CK81; P1 and CK120; P2), and one maternal line (IR79156; M). The data sets were aligned against the reference, precisely, the total numbers of the individual rice panicles. Samples aligned with Nipponbare ranking from the highest were as follows, P2 (9,747,077 reads), H1 (7,386,061 reads), P1 (5,361,077 reads), H2 (5,196,982 reads), and M (2,244,306 reads), respectively. Two methods of nitrogen management of broadcast wet-seeded rice in SPR1 with Leaf Color Chart (LCC) had been demonstrated compared with farmer fertilizer's practice in 6 farmer fields in Suphan Buri province during dry and wet season, 2003. The results showed that LCC produced yield of 605 and 616 kg/rai whereas farmers’ practice produced only 594 kg/rai and also consumed 28-48% less N fertilizer and gained more yield per nitrogen unit than those of farmers’ practice. Moreover, LCC took only 3.80 baht/kg of total fertilizer input cost and gained 602-614 baht of net benefit whereas the farmers’ practice needed 4.20 baht/kg and gave only 363.50 baht net benefit. Thus, nitrogen management with LCC reduces a lot of input cost and imported urea fertilizer.

Using hermetic storage method for preserving of rice seed, Phitsanulok 2 variety, in five storage packaging types; plastic bag, LDPE, Nylon, PET12 and Super bag. The experiment aimed to investigate the effect of hermetic storage method with several packaging types on rice seed quality. The split plot in RCB design was used, the main plot were 8% and 10% seed moisture contents while the sub plot were month of storage, for 24 months. This study aims to measure the technical efficiency score and management factors that affect glutinous rice production of farmers in rainfed area of Maha Sarakham Province. Cross-section data of wet season farmers in Maha Sarakham for 2011/12 crop year is used by purposive sampling. There are two soil groups, soil group no. 24 and no.40 totaling 120 household samples. The study uses Stochastic Frontier Production Function indicated that human labour, machine labour, fertiliser and seeds that are the main factors in glutinous rice production and the glutinous rice yield in the area exhibit increasing returns to scale. Brown planthopper resistant promising line, BKN04004-1-1-1-1 is non-photoperiod sensitive line derived from conventional breeding. BKN04004-1-1-1-1 was made by between female line "IR77924-12-38-1-1" and male line "IR72158-68" in 2004. F2 to F5 were grown and selected during 2005-2006 at Bang Khen Rice Experiment Station. Ongoing observation and yield trials were done at Chachoengsao Rice Research center during 2007-2013. Process design of quick cooking rice by using microwave has not been studied before. This project used microwave cooking and microwave drying in the process of quick cooking rice production. The white rice (KDML 105) was soaked in water for 1 hour until the moisture content of 30% was reached and then cooked by microwave at 800 Watt for 10 minutes using the rice and water ratio 1:9 until the moisture content was 63%. The cooked rice is dried by a continuous microwave of 1000 Watt, belt speed 6.72*10-3 m/s for 10 rounds. The total time of drying was 14.1 minutes. Three kinds of volcanic ashes, namely clinoptilolite, pumice, and bentonite were tested in the year 2014 for the purpose of Si supply in order to increase brown planthopper resistance in rice. Longevity of adults, the number of nymphs, the number of eggs, percentage of hatching eggs, and survival percentage of 1st instar nymphs to adults were studied. Results from farmer’s trial found that silica in the leaf sheath of volcanic ashes plots were significant higher than control. But this amount of increased silica is not enough to control the brown planthopper population. Silica in the leaf sheath of Pathumthani 1 was significant lower than in RD41 and RD47. การรวบรวมพรรณไม้เลื้อยจากดอยขุนวาง Thai Agricultural

The collection of creepers from the wild area at Khun Wang Development Center, Royal Project Foundation, Chiangmai where is 1,200 m above sea level was conducted. We obtained 31 creeper samples but only 23 samples were able to adapt and grow at Chiangmai University where 330 m above sea level. The 31 collected creeper samples were identified by comparing with the reference, dry samples of the Herbarium institute, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University. It was able to classify the creepers into 12 families, 18 genuses and 20 species. Raphidophora glauca and R. peep had the potential to be developed as a cut leaf or pot plant
