Prototype for Moulding Poultry Litter CIGR Journal
Elrajhi, Mohamed Ali Ibrahim.
This study presents the possibility of using poultry litter as an effective soil fertilizer, fattening ruminants, and energy production. But fresh poultry litter typically has high moisture content and high volume per unit weight. Therefore, the transportation of large volumes at low bulk densities over long distances is difficult and expensive. Furthermore, its nutrient composition is not constant, and it cannot be safely used as a feed ingredient because it contains pathogens. The main aim of this research is to solve all these problems by developing a prototype that moulds poultry litter to the desired shape and weight by compression and formation to enhance storage, transportation, and off-site utilization. Also, this research aims to determine the...

MATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF A KENAF HARVESTER CIGR Journal
Ayorinde, Adedayo Thomas.
In this study, a mathematical model of the cutting behaviour of the kenaf harvester was developed by considering plant stems as uniform cantilever beam. The stems were visualized as being subjected to a cutting force by a cutting blade with (n) teeth, and the energy required to overcome the shear resistance of the stem by the cutting blade is equal to the energy required for quasi-static cutting and the energy expended on overcoming friction. The developed equation was used to predict the cutting torque, power and energy requirements of the machine during operation and validated on three kenaf varieties. The result shows an increase in cutting torque of the plant stalk with crop maturity for all the varieties of kenaf. It also shows a consistent trend of...

Sokudlor, Nuttaphon; Laloon, Kittipong; Junsiri, Chaiyan; Sudajan, Somposh.
This research aimed to optimize the configuration of an indented cylinder rice separator using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The study employed the Box-Behnken Design (BBD) with three center points to investigate the impact of sieve slope, trough angle, and sorting duration on efficiency and loss. The results demonstrated that all three factors significantly influenced the performance of the machine. By increasing the sieve slope and sorting duration while adjusting the trough angle closely to zero, the loss percentage decreased significantly, leading to improved sorting efficiency. A quadratic model was employed to determine the optimal conditions for the studied factors. The analysis revealed that a 2-degree sieve slope, a -0.1 scale of the trough...

LIME RATES AND METHODS OF APPLICATION FOR SOYBEANS GREW IN A SANDY LATOSOL CIGR Journal
Nolla, Antonio; Oliveira, Elayne; Castaldo, João.
Soil acidity correction aims to neutralize Al3+ and H+ and supply Ca and Mg for the development of crops, such as soybean. However, there is no consensus on the optimum lime rates and application methods for sandy soils, especially in no-till, given their increased susceptibility to leaching of water and nutrients as well as reduced capacity of soil colloids. Thus, the aim of this study was to compare the efficiency of lime rates and application methods and establish liming criteria for soybean production in a sandy Latosol in Northwestern Paraná. The experimental soil was a typical dystrophic Red Latosol of sandy texture. Treatments consisted of surface and incorporated application of lime to achieve 50, 60, 70, and 80% base saturation and an untreated...
