Population structure of Pinus elliottii in areas of forest regeneration in Juiz de Fora, MG, Brazil PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Menon, Talita Aperibense; Carvalho, Fabricio Alvim.
Plants of the genus Pinus are known worldwide by biological invasion potential. In the 1960s there were massive plantations of Pinus elliottii in the Campus of Juiz de Fora University, and nowadays the species is widespread. This study analyzed the species population structure in two distinct forest regeneration environments: open area (abandoned pasture) and closed-canopy (secondary forest) on the campus of UFJF, Juiz de Fora, MG, Brazil. The hypothesis were that the open environment would present a better structured population, due to the preference of species for open areas. Random plots were allocated (15 plots of 5 m x 5 m in each environment), and all individuals of the species (trees: dbh . 5 cm, saplings, dbh <5 cm and H . 1 m and seedlings: H...

Hypsometric relation for candeia (Eremanthus erythropappus) under different planting spacings in Minas Gerais, Brazil PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Araújo, Emanuel José Gomes de; Pelissari, Allan Libanio; David, Hassan Camil; Scolforo, José Roberto Soares; Netto, Sylvio Péllico; Morais, Vinícius Augusto.
The objective of this work was to adjust traditional models of hypsometric relations for homogeneous candeia stands, under different initial spacings. Ten models were adjusted for hypsometric relations. The assessment criteria obeyed the highest determination coefficient and the lowest standard error of estimate in percentage. The F test was also evaluated, as well as the significance of the regression coefficients, the graphical analysis of the residues and the identity test when the same model was selected for different treatments. It was observed that, over time, the hypsometric curves reduce their tilt, move to the right and elevate, reducing the interval among them from the sixth year. The traditional hypsometric relation models as Henricksen,...

Potencializando o Papel dos Morcegos Frugívoros na Recuperação de Áreas Degradadas PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Mikich, Sandra Bos; Bianconi, Gledson Vigiano.

A complementary strategy for the conservation of native forest tree species: retrieval and conservation of threatened ecotypes PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Shimizu, Jarbas Yukio.
Deforestation has become rampant in recent years in Brazil and has affected all biomes where manyspecies are threatened to extinction due to destruction natural habitats. Government initiatives to hinder thechain of destruction include two main lines of action: to establish conservation units (parks, reserves andothers); and programs to encourage plantation of native tree species for reclamation of degraded ecosystems, restoration of forests on permanent protection areas (riparian, and steep slope environments), and establishment of “legal reserves” (a mandatory forest reserve on at least 20% of the land area). Conservation units are effectivein conserving natural ecosystems. However, they are of limited value for the conservation of ecotypes, sincetheir...

Productivity of clones eucalypts at different management systems for purposes of energy PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Gadelha, Fernando Henrique de Lima; Aleixo da Silva, José Antônio; Caraciolo Ferreira, Rinaldo Luiz; dos Santos, Rubeni Cunha; Tavares, José Alves.
The region of the Araripe Gypsum Pole in the state of Pernambuco is the largest producer of plaster in Brazil, and its main energy source for producing plaster is the wood from Caatinga, which provides not enough wood for the demand of gypsum industries, resulting in deforestation and compromising the sustainability of the region. One option to supply that demand is the implementation of fast growing forests. This study aimed to evaluate the volumetric growth of three clones of Eucalyptus spp., conducted under the regimes of high forest and coppice, planted with a spacing of 3x2 m. The experiment was carried out at the Experimental Station of the Agronomic Institute of Pernambuco, in Araripina, PE, Brazil. Height and circumference at 1.30 m above soil...
