There were 24 farmers from Watbot and Maikhet sub-district , Muang district, Prachinburi province participated with the efficiency increasing of floating rice seed production development project by using dry seed dipping machine in 258 rais. The objective was to implement floating rice seed production (Khao Ban Nah 432) model by using dry seed dipping machine. Total seed yields were 108,100 kilograms with average yield at 409 kg. per rai. There were only 6 farmers passed the red rice seed standard of certified rice seed standard, (less than 10 red rice seeds per 500 grams of paddy). The average red rice quantity was 79 seeds per 500 gram paddy. All farmers collected 53,270 kilograms of their own seeds for next season. They sold 45,530 kilograms of seeds...

Program on research and development of rainfed lowland rice in northeastern Thailand which collaborate with the National Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) was carried out the project to develop a medium maturing, blast resistant, non-glutinous rice line. The cross between IR57514-PMI-5-B-1-2 and RGDU99016-MAS-77 was developed and the progenies were backcrossed to IR57514-PMI-5-B-1-2 for 3 times at RGDU, BIOTEC. Measurement of methane emission from rice production systems is a methodology for data collection of Carbon Footprint from rice production system. Four major rice production systems were defined for methane emission measurement in 2012, including upland rice, rainfed rice, irrigated rice with good agricultural practices (GAP) and irrigated rice with alternative wet and dry (AWD). Gas samples were taken one week interval and analyzed by Gas Chromatograph; GC-8A as soon as possible after collection. Prachin Buri Rice Research Center has released a rice variety ‘Bahng Taen’, which is resistant to blast in the Eastern region. The efficacy of bispyribac sodium, fenoxaprop-p-ethyl + ethoxysulfuron, and propanil+butachlor were evaluated in greenhouse and field experiments, Weed Science, Crop and Environmental Sciences Division, IRRI in February - April 2013. The field plots had high weed density that had 4-6 leaves when the herbicides were applied at 15 days after land preparation. In the greenhouse experiment we grew Echinocloa crus-galli, Ludwigia octovalvis, Cyperus iria, weedy rice (Oryza sativa f. spontanea Acc. 105798 (THA)), and rice cultivars KDML105 and IR64 in pots.
