| In 2020, the Zostera noltei seagrass bed monitoring, located on the transitional water body FRFT08 Bidassoa (Txingudi Bay, Hendaye - Pyrénées Atlantiques), was carried out from a grid of 30 sample points ("stationary" monitoring) and from a mapping within the framework of the WFD. The "angiosperms" indicator established on this water body is based on 3 metrics (composition, extent and abundance). In 2020, the calculation of this indicator classifies the water body in "Very good condition". This result is explained both by a significant increase in the seagrass bed surface area, from 1.9 ha in 2018 to 4.5 ha in 2020 and by a good abundance. |

| In compliance with the Water Framework Directive (WFD), the good ecological status assessment for Channel-Atlantic coastal water bodies is currently carried out in the intertidal and subtidal zones using a biological indicator based on macroalgae on the rocky coasts. The second step of this Directive (2016-2021) deals with the workings of the marine ecosystem. Therefore, macrofauna has also to be taken into account in the both zones. Current works about the WFD indicator of pressure-impact interactions show deficiencies on how the biological indicators respond to each pressure regarding magnitude and type. | Certaines masses d’eau s’avérant parfois déclassées par cet élément de qualité, le groupe de travail DCE « Eaux Littorales » a sollicité de la part des scientifiques une réflexion sur les raisons de ce mauvais classement et les éventuelles actions de restauration ou d'amélioration de connaissances relatives aux herbiers de ces zones. L’objectif de cette expertise, soutenue par l’Agence Française pour la Biodiversité, et réalisée en collaboration avec les acteurs concernés par l’indicateur « angiospermes » sur les façades Manche-Atlantique, est d’identifier les pressions potentiellement responsables de cette situation (Tableau 1) en prenant également en compte l’effet des différentes métriques de l’indicateur sur les résultats obtenus. |

| To determine good ecological status and conservation of the Sub-Marine area of the Bay of Biscay, the implementation of a new rocky intertidal habitats monitoring is needed. A protocol has been adapted from the Brittany protocol for the water body FRFC11 "Basque coast" for the two indicators "intertidal macroalgae" and "subtidal macroalgae" under the Water Framework Directive to qualify the ecological.
