| Based upon a large collection from the western Mediterranean, a description of a new genus of notodelphyid parasitic copepod from didemnid ascidians is given. The new genus Anoplodelphys is erected for three new species found in different host species. Anoplodelphys clearly belongs to the ophioseidimorph group of notodelphyids ; within this group, the genus is mainly distinguished by the complete lack of true buccal appendages, feature in common with only four previously described species. The discovery of this new genus increases the polyphyletic trend within the ophioseidimorph notodelphyids. | A species of Gonophysema (Copepod parasitic in Ascidians) has been found in the Mediterranean living in Distomus variolosus, which is a new host for the genus. This form is morphologically and anatomically indistinguishable from G. gullmarensis, single species of the genus. However, its specific rank can not be established with certainty. Gonophgsema (eine ascidicole Copepode) ist lebend im Distomus variolosus, ein neuer Wirt dieser Gattung, im Mittelmeer gefunden worden. | During the Polymede II cruise conducted by the R.S. "Jean-Charcot" and organized by the Scientifc department of the C.O.B., two sectors of the Ionian Sea have been the focus of a biological study of the benthic populations: the abyssal plain of Messine (abyssal being used here in its topographic meaning, that is to say a central basin away from the coast), and the Matapan South trench, to the south-west of the Peloponnesus. Samples were taken using an epibenthic drag with an automatic closing system enabling the catch of pelagic animals during the haulback and the loss of benthic samples. |

| Several unknown animal forms have recently been collected in the immediate vicinity of hot hydrothermal vents in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, forming a flourishing community of organisms. A tubicolous polychaete builds parchment like tubes around some of the hydrothermal vents. The tubes are covered with particles of metallic sulfur. This annelid is a new species, and is called Alvinella pompejana, new genus and species. | The breeding of bivalve larvae has up t o now always been conducted in closed systems. This method requires great care and consequently much labor. Using running water systems, we intended to exclude handling and avoid infestations and diseases without the use of antibiotics . Primarily, we used two cylindrical 20 m3 tanks, both with a filtering sand bottom and air-lift system. The flow was about 400 liters/hr. The temperature was 20 C.
