EUSeaMap 2019 is the third iteration of EUSeaMap. All versions have been produced as part of the EMODnet Seabed Habitats project, which is one of several thematic lots in EMODnet. The project has brought together a European consortium of specialists in benthic ecology and seabed habitat mapping. The partners first collaborated in EMODnet phase 1 (2009-2012) to deliver a prototype predictive seabed habitat map in four trial basins (Greater North Sea, Celtic Seas, Baltic, Western Mediterranean). This predictive model was named EUSeaMap (Cameron and Askew, 2011). In EMODnet Phase 2 (2012-2016), the consortium extended EUSeaMap coverage to all European regions (Populus et al, 2017). In the new version, the spatial coverage was extended further North in order... |

This study is an attempt to produce an assessment of the impact of shrimp aquaculture in the Mekong Delta (Viet Nam) on mangrove ecosystems. For this exercise we selected two sub-areas (Ca Mau and Tra Vinh provinces) encompassing a variety of land uses and ecological conditions. Twenty stations in Tra Vinh and 15 stations in Ca Mau have been surveyed several times from September 2000 to March 2002. Field investigations included mangrove soils studies, measurements of pH and salinity of the water, analysis of mangrove flora, and density and structure of the vegetation. Four Systeme Probatoire de l'Observation de la Terre (SPOT) scenes were used for the discrimination of mangrove types and for the delineation of landscape units. For the first time, five... |

The aim of this study is to model the seaweed species distribution with respect to environmental parameters. We focused on fixed species of algae, such as fucoids. Firstly, we identified environmental parameters, such as substratum nature, immersion time, exposure, etc., which determine the seaweed distribution. Secondly, we used field sampling to compute the distribution laws for seaweed according to the environmental parameters selected. Thirdly, we used the distribution laws and the environmental parameters to perform predictive mapping of seaweed belts with a fuzzy logic method. Seaweed presence is directly dependent on the nature of the substratum. In the intertidal domain we used an alternative, because seaweed beds can be observed directly. We... |
