| Models are developed to measure the effect of socioeconomic factors on the probability of consuming fish and shellfish in both the away from home and at home markets. Factors that significantly affect the likelihood of eating fish and shellfish at home include urbanization, region, race, ethnicity, age, diet status and income. On the other hand, region, employment, diet status, household size, age and income significantly affect the likelihood of eating fish and shellfish away from home. |

| This report evaluates the U.S. and world sugar markets for 1999-2009 by using the Global Sugar Policy Simulation Model. This analysis is based on assumptions about general economic conditions, agricultural policies, population growth, weather conditions, and technological changes. Both the U.S. and world sugar economies are predicted to be strong for the next ten years after the current over supply is reduced. World demand for sugar is expected to grow faster than world supply, resulting in gradually increasing Caribbean sugar prices from 6.55 cents/lb in 1999 to 12.3 cents/lb in 2009. | Occurrence of cattle disease known as Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) has caused great fluctuations in production and consumption of beef meat in the European Union. Croatia does not have enough cattle to meet demands of domestic market. However, there is not one case of BSE in cattle reported in Croatia to date. This fact can be used as an advantage on the beef meat market, presupposing that Croatia has implemented quality programs to increase number of cattle. Research results show that 70% of examinees consume beef at least once a week up to several times a month, and 70.5% have not reduced beef consumption after the disease occurred. |

| This study investigates the influence of the demographic ageing process in Germany on the long-term economic growth path. For this purpose a macroeconomic simulation model which combines demographic forecasts with a modified Ramsey growth model is applied. Special focus is put on the consumption effects of population ageing and the potential to counter those by rising fertility or permanent immigration. The simulation results illustrate that in the medium and in the long terms per capita consumption is among all demographic scenarios lower than without demographic changes.
