| La estimación de parámetros genéticos en experimentos de cruzas dialélicas ayuda en la toma de decisiones objetivas en los programas de mejoramiento genético. Los objetivos de la presente investigación fueron estimar la heterosis, la aptitud combinatoria general (ACG) de ocho poblaciones de maíz (Zea mays L.) y la aptitud combinatoria específica (ACE) de 28 cruzas directas. | ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate live weight and carcass traits, from birth to slaughter, and meat quality of Nellore (NEL), Curraleiro Pé-Duro (CPD), and crossbred (F1) products in the state of Piauí, Brazil. Progenies from CPD, NEL, and their F1 crossbred (½ NEL + ½ CPD), a total of 252, males and females, from birth to 24 months of age, were evaluated in a comparative study in growth performance. | In order to evaluate the effect of the different percentages of zebu blood in the genotype of crossbred steers on carcass traits, a meta-analysis was carried out, using 30 studies conducted in Brazil that have been published since the year 2000. | With the purpose of evaluating the changes and the degree of heterosis on performance and carcass traits of fish from the diallel crossing between Pacu and Tambaqui, four genetic groups were generated through hormonal induction: pacu, tambaqui, tambacu and paqui. For 196 days, 400 juveniles of each genetic group were stocked in a pond divided into four parts of equal size, one for each group. | La heterosis en ganado lechero cambia los parámetros productivos y reproductivos comparados con el ganado Holstein puro. El objetivo fue realizar cruzamientos rotativos con Holstein, Jersey, Montbeliarde y Sueco rojo y medir algunos rendimientos productivos y reproductivos. En los cruzamientos se usaron como base, vacas Holstein importadas (H; n = 200). Los grupos genéticos obtenidos de primera lactancia fueron: 1) H (n = 44), 2) F1J (50% Holstein y 50% Jersey; n = 58), 3) F1M (50% Holstein y 50% Montbeliarde; n = 72), 4) HJS (25% H, 25% J y 50% Sueco rojo S; n = 53). | Inbreeding reduces the vigor in plants as a result of a decrease in the proportion of heterozygous loci. However, the influence of inbreeding is different among the species. The objective of this work was to evaluate the inbreeding depression in a cucumber Japanese population. | In Brazil, acid soils represent a large portion of the agricultural area and the development of cultivars with tolerance to acidity has shown to be feasible. The identification of germoplasm potentially tolerant to acidity was the purpose of this work. Two distinct groups of maize (Zea mays L.) populations were crossed according to the partial diallel mating scheme: Group [1] with six adapted populations and Group [2] with seven exotic varieties. | The dependence of Brazil on imported improved papaya seeds was the main motivation for this research that primarily intended to evaluate the combining ability of eight genotypes from the 'Solo' group, crossed with eight genotypes from the 'Formosa' group following a partial diallel scheme. The traits mean fruit weight, brix degree and flavor revealed prevalence of additive effects in both genetic groups, while plant height was preponderantly additive only for the 'Solo' genotypes. | Abstract The objective of the work was to evalúate the agronomic performance and seed yield of tropical corn (Zea mays L.) of single and tri-linear crosses. In the spring-summer of 2015 and 2016, two essays were established in the states of Veracruz and Tabasco, Mexico. | Six popcorn varieties were crossed in a diallel mating scheme to obtain 15 F1 hybrids, with the purpose of analyzing the estimates of heterotic parametrization for agronomically important traits. The genitors and hybrids were evaluated in randomized block design with three replications in Viçosa and Visconde do Rio Branco, in Minas Gerais State, Brazil, in three growing seasons. | O trabalho teve como objetivo gerar informações sobre a capacidade combinatória de linhagens de pimentão por meio da análise dialélica multivariada. Foram utilizadas 13 linhagens de pimentão previamente selecionadas com base na reação ao mosaico amarelo do pimentão, sendo oito linhagens com reação do tipo resistência e cinco com reação do tipo suscetibilidade, num dialelo 8 x 5, mais as linhagens parentais. | The genetic parameter estimates of the iron and zinc concentrations in Andean common bean seeds were obtained using the IAC Boreal × Light Red Kidney and Ouro Branco × Light Red Kidney crosses. The parents and the F1, F1 reciprocal, F2, F2 reciprocal, and backcross BC11 and BC12 generations were evaluated in a field experiment that was carried out in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The iron concentration in Andean common bean seeds ranged from 24.70 to 102.40 mg kg-1 dry matter (DM), the zinc concentration ranged from 10.73 to 37.50 mg kg-1 DM, and no significant maternal effect was observed.
