| 2006 a vu l'Ifremer évoluer dans un contexte porteur pour les sciences marines. L'élaboration par la Commission européenne d'un Livre vert sur une stratégie marine européenne intégrée qui fait, dans le cadre de la stratégie de Lisbonne sur l'économie de la connaissance, largement référence à la recherche et à son nécessaire développement, a ouvert pour un an, et jusqu'en juin 2007 un large débat auquel l'Ifremer s'est attaché à contribuer d'abord en son sein, mais aussi avec la communauté océanographique française, ainsi qu'avec nos partenaires européens. | It is well known that a general relationship exists between the age of the earth's crust at mid-ocean ridges and its depth (Menard, 1969; Sclater and Francheteau, 1970; Sclater et al., 1971). Depths increase from 2500 300 meters at a spreading center, to 5800 5300 meters in oceanic crust of Early Cretaceous to Late Jurassic age (Figure 1; Sclater et al., 1971). | L'année 2005 aura été pour l'Ifremer marquée par la signature avec l'Etat d'un nouveau contrat quadriennal qui constitue la feuille de route de l'établissement pour les années qui viennent. | The work group organized jointly by the C.N.E.X.O. (National Centre for the Exploitation of Oceans) and the Fisheries University of Tokyo in collaboration with the Sciences and Techniques University of Languedoc, brought together all the scientists interested in tuna aquaculture in the Mediterranean area. The different topics tackled during this symposium were: the study of the fisheries, the current state of the bluefin tuna biology and fishery in the Mediterranean Sea, the experiences and results of tuna aquaculture in Japan and Canada, the Mediterranean potential, as well as an attempt at setting up an international cooperative research programme on bluefin tuna farming in the western Mediterranean Sea. |

| To begin with, it seems necessary to recall the reason why we tried to find new fishing areas in Greenland after the failure of three French trawlers in 1925, and with in mind the quasi-certainty of finding a satisfactory compensation for the lack of fishes on the Newfoundland Bank in the summer. 1927 had been the first year of shortage observed since 1922, date of the first oceanographic studies conducted by the Fisheries Office in Newfoundland. | The aquaculture methods worked out in Japan with japanese scallop Patinopecten yessoensis may find an application for black scallop (Chlamys varia) and queen scallop (Chlamys opercularis) that live in our coastal waters. The studies carried out till now, mainly in Brest and Quiberon were especially devoted to spat collection. Material and methods similar to those used for scallop, Pecten maximus, were improved to handle several thousands of collectors. The methods offorecasting settlement periods were also improved. |

The two new species are compared with the two (or three) other species previously known. These samples corroborate the recent discovery of a single specimen of this rare genus in the Mediterranean. | The olfactory hypothesis of the salmonids' "homing" assumes that the juvenile is conditioned to recognize a specific scent of its native river during the smolt stage and that it uses this characteristic to locate its river for upstream migration. We tested this hypothesis and exposed, in artificial conditions, some farmed coho salmon, rainbow trout and fario trout, aged 18 months, to a chemical (morpholine or alcoolphenetyl) introduced in the natural production environment (mixed with the scents of the native river), in order to determine if they will be responsive to this product to locate their initial production environment during upstream migration. |
