Projecting Productivity Growth: Lessons from the U.S. Growth Resurgence AgEcon
Jorgenson, Dale W.; Ho, Mun S.; Stiroh, Kevin J..
This paper analyzes the sources of U.S. labor productivity growth in the post-1995 period and presents projections for both output and labor productivity growth for the next decade. Despite the recent downward revisions to U.S. GDP and software investment, we show that information technology (IT) played a substantial role in the U.S. productivity revival. We then outline a methodology for projecting trend output and productivity growth. Our base-case projection puts the rate of trend productivity growth at 2.21% per year over the next decade with a range of 1.33 - 2.92%, reflecting fundamental uncertainties about the rate of technological progress in IT-production and investment patterns. Our central projection is only slightly below the average growth...

Implementation of a Traceability System From Constraints to Opportunities for the Industry: A Case Study of Quebec, Canada AgEcon
Lavoie, Gilbert; Forest, Jean-Francois.
Increasing frequency of epidemiological crisis and their disastrous consequences are motivating nations, around the world, to introduce traceability systems. Traceability systems enable identification, prevention of propagation, and control of diseases and health problems in the shortest possible delay. However, while this effort is praise worthy and indeed necessary, the implementation of a traceability system is complicated primarily because it involves additional constraints and costs to the industry. This article describes the introduction and success of a compulsory traceability system in the Quebec province of Canada by presenting the approach and the strategies that were adopted to minimize constraints and generate opportunities for the industry.

Torres, Antonio, Jr.; Akridge, Jay T.; Gray, Allan W.; Boehlje, Michael; Widdows, Richard.
Customer Relationship Management (CRM) has received much attention in the business press as a management process to enhance firm performance. This research highlights differences between groups of respondents who believe their firm's CRM program is performing at a high level, as compared to those not satisfied with the performance of their CRM initiative. Cluster analysis was used to develop a taxonomy of respondents based on their perceived CRM performance. The resulting clusters are then profiled on both demographic variables as well as a core set of activities/behaviors to better understand key differences in the CRM programs of agribusinesses.
