Extractant efficiency in the solubilization of alternative sources of potassium Agronomy
Reis, Daniele Nogueira dos; van Straaten, Peter; Furtini Neto, Antonio Eduardo; Bittar, Sheila Maria Bretas; Curi, Nilton.
Knowledge of a rock’s composition allows for inferences regarding several properties, ranging from its physical characteristics to its solubility. This study aimed to evaluate the use of different extractants to solubilize the K present in rocks as a potential source of nutrients and the effects of extractant contact time and temperature on rock solubilization. Samples of two rocks and a mineral concentrated from a granitic rock were treated with ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (NH4(H2PO4)), calcium dihydrogen phosphate (Ca(H2PO4)2), sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and water (control). Sample-extractant treatments were performed using a water bath shaker at temperatures of 25 and 50°C for periods of 3, 7, 10, 20, and 30 days. The amounts of K extracted from rocks...

Macro and micro minerals: are frozen fruits a good source? Anais da ABC (AABC)
Spada,Patricia D.S.; Bortolin,Giovana V.; Prá,Daniel; Santos,Carla E.I.; Dias,Johnny F.; Henriques,João A.P.; Salvador,Mirian.
Fruits are rich in minerals, which are essential for a wide variety of metabolic and physiologic processes in the human body. The use of frozen fruits has greatly spread in the last years not only in the preparation of juices, but also as raw material for yogurts, candies, cookies, cakes, ice creams, and children's food. However, up to now there is no data about the mineral profile of frozen fruits. This is the first database to quantify the levels of minerals in 23 samples of frozen fruits, including the most used around the world and some native fruits from the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. Considering the Dietary Reference Intakes, 100g of frozen fruits can provide 0.2 to 2.8% of macro and 2.5 to 100% of microminerals for adults (31-50 years old)....

Soil susceptibility to compaction under use conditions in southern Brazil Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Mazurana,Michael; Levien,Renato; Inda Junior,Alberto Vasconcellos; Conte,Osmar; Bressani,Luiz Antônio; Müller,Jonatan.
ABSTRACT The degree of soil compaction is intensified by its inadequate management, compaction being variable depending on soil type since even under identical management conditions, different types have different abilities to withstand load. The objective of this study was to evaluate the susceptibility to compaction of different classes of soils under no-tillage (NT) croping system compared to the original condition. Thus, i) soils with the same source material have distinct resistance to compression with increased NT adoption time; ii) the most sensitive indicators of this change are the ratios mass:volume and volume:volume and; iii) there is a relationship between resistance and compaction susceptibility with the amount and type of oxide. Soil samples...
