Short notes and reviews Amphibians of France, Belgium and Luxemburg Naturalis
Vences, Miguel.
As a general trend, accounts on regional and local herpetofaunas tend to become more and more colourful and extensive, and the classical borders between fieldguide, distribution atlas and handbook are fading. The book reviewed here is a good example for this trend. Edited by Rémi Duguet und Frédéric Melki for the “Association pour la Connaissance et l’Etude du Monde Animal et Végetal” (ACEMAV), it summarizes the state of knowledge on the amphibians of France, Luxembourg and Belgium. Thereby it bridges a very important gap, because no comprehensive account on this region was so far available – despite its “batrachophilic” character, expressed in the yearly import of over 2970 tons of frog limbs to France, 2100 t to Belgium and 34 t to Luxembourg for...

Clamp connections at the cheilocystidia in Mycena Naturalis
Maas Geesteranus, R.A..
Clamp connections at the cheilocystidia in Mycena are invariably correlated with their presence in other elements of hymenium and subhymenium. In some species of the genus clamped cheilocystidia occur in both the four- and two-spored forms; in others, the cheilocystidia are clampless in the two-spored form. Two of the sections examined are shown to comprise species with clamped and species with clampless cheilocystidia, suggesting that the presence of clamps at the cheilocystidia is a character of specific rather than sectional importance. Two examples are given to illustrate the value of clamps at cheilocystidia as a distinguishing character Mycena jacobi and M. niveipes, long regarded as being identical, are here considered to represent two separate...

Floron-Rode Lijst 1990 Naturalis
Weeda, E.J.; Meijden, R. van der; Bakker, P.A..

Ulmer, Georg.
Seit ich das letzte Verzeichniss der javanischen Triphopteren gab (Notes Leyden Mus. 32. 1910, pp. 64—66) beschrieb Cornelius Betten („Notes on the Trichoptera in the collection of the Indian Museum.” Records of the Indian Museum.

Kooistra, Laura I..

Auriculariopsis and the Schizophyllales Naturalis
Stalpers, J.A..
The cultural characters and the development of the basidiomes of Auriculariopsis ampla (Lév.) Maire are described and compared with those of Schizophyllum commune Fr.: Fr. It is concluded that Auriculariopsis is very close to Schizophyllum and that the existence of the order Schizophyllales is not justified.

New Ceratocystis species associated with rapid death of Metrosideros polymorpha in Hawai`i Naturalis
Barnes, I.; Fourie, A.; Wingfield, M.J.; Harrington, T.C.; McNew , D.L.; Sugiyama, L.S.; Luiz, B.C.; Heller, W.P.; Keith, L.M..
The native ˋōhiˋa lehua (Metrosideros polymorpha) has cultural, biological and ecological significance to Hawai`i, but it is seriously threatened by a disease commonly referred to as rapid ˋōhiˋa death (ROD). Preliminary investigations showed that a Ceratocystis species similar to C. fimbriata s.lat. was the cause of the disease. In this study, we used a combination of the phylogenetic, morphological and biological species concepts, as well as pathogenicity tests and microsatellite analyses, to characterise isolates collected from diseased ˋōhiˋa trees across Hawai`i Island. Two distinct lineages, representing new species of Ceratocystis, were evident based on multigene phylogenetic analyses. These are described here as C. lukuohia and C. huliohia....

A new species of Sulcia Kratochvil (Araneida, Leptoneptidae) from Greece, and a discussion of some Japanese Cavernicolous Leptonetidae Naturalis
Deeleman-Reinhold, C.L..
A NEW SPECIES OF SULCIA In 1962, Dresco described the first representative of the genus Sulcia from the Greek mainland, Sulcia lindbergi. Recently, Brignoli (1968a) considered this species a subspecies of Sulcia cretica Fage. The genus is also known from Dalmatia, Hercegovina, Montenegro, and some adjacent islands (Kratochvil, 1938) and from the Island of Crete (Fage, 1945). In January 1969, my husband P. R. Deeleman, had the opportunity to visit the Koutouki Cave near the village of Ljopessi (officially also called Peania), situated at approximately 20 km west of Athens. This visit was made possible by the assistance of Mrs. A. Petrochilos and Mr. A. Kanellis, to whom we feel very much obliged. In this cave a new species of Sulcia was collected. The cave...

On some Polychaetous Annelids from Curaçao Naturalis
Horst, R..
Though we know already a rather large number of Polychaetous Annelids from the Caribbean Sea, hitherto, as far as I know, no Annelids have been described from the coast of the island Curaçao and I therefore was very glad, that my colleague Dr. VAN DER HORST kindly placed in my hands for identification a collection of Annelids, made during his stay on that island in the summer of 1920. The worms have been collected in „de Spaansche haven”, „het Spaansche water” and the „Caracas-baai” at the South-coast of the island. Our first knowledge of the West-indian Annelids dates from the middle of the foregoing century when Oersted (1845—48), Kroyer and Schmarda travelled in Central and South America. The Annelids procured by the first two naturalists have been...

Remarks on Chalcites malayanus (Raffles) Naturalis
Junge, G.C.A..
Till now it was assumed that the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, and Celebes are inhabited by the typical race of Chalcites malayanus. At Prof. Stresemann's request I compared the beautiful series collected by Heinrich in Celebes with the material in the Leiden Museum and it proved that the above mentioned region is inhabited by more than one race. Especially in series these races are well recognizable. Material was kindly sent me on loan by the British Museum, the Buitenzorg Museum, and the Raffles Museum. Chalcites malayanus malayanus (Raffles) Cuculus malayanus Raffles, Trans. Linn. Soc, vol. 13, 1821, p. 286 (Malay Peninsula). The upperparts are greenish tinged, in some specimens with a more or less bronze gloss. The forehead with a varying...

Five new species of the subfamily Ichneutinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) from China and Europe Naturalis
He, J.; Chen, X.; Achterberg, C. van.
The species of the genus Pseudichneutes Belokobylskij, 1996 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Ichneutinae: Ichneutini) from Europe and Oriental China are keyed, and two new species are described. The Chinese species of the only other known genus of the tribe, Ichneutes Nees, 1816, are keyed and three new species are described. This represents the first record of the genera Pseudichneutes and Ichneutes from the Oriental region as well as from China.

De Esino-Raiblergrens in de Bergamasker Alpen Naturalis
Krol, G.L..
Zoo ontstonden feitelijk drie groote problemen, t. w.

Notes on Myxomycetes IV. Myxomycetes collected in the Netherlands, chiefly in the Vicinity of Doorwerth (Gelderland) Naturalis
Nannenga-Bremekamp, N.E..
This is the first of a series of short papers dealing with Myxomycetes collected by me since August 1951 in the Netherlands, mostly in an area not exceeding 6 square kilometers in extent, situated round Doorwerth in the province of Gelderland, and extending from Heelsum in the West to Oosterbeek in the East, and from Wolfheze in the North to the banks of the Rhine in the South. Localities will only be mentioned by name when the specimens were collected outside this area, or when they appear to be rare here. Species which according to Prof. Dr. W. K. H. Karstens (private communication) have not been found previously in the Netherlands, have been marked with an asterisk. The (unpublished) list of Dr. Karstens, which covers the whole of the Netherlands,...
