On a collection of Peruvian Neniinae (Mollusca: Gastropoda: Clausiliidae), with a check-list and a provisional key to all the Peruvian species known Naturalis
Loosjes, F.E.; Loosjes-van Bemmel, A.C.W..
An annotated list is given of all Neniinae collected in 1975 by Dr. A. S. H. Breure in Peru. The localities that have been visited are also listed, together with the Neniinae collected there. Pseudogracilinenia gen. nov. is described for P. huallagana (Pilsbry, 1949) (type-species) and P.jolyi (O. Boettger, 1880); the latter species is only tentatively classified with Pseudogracilinenia because its anatomy is still unknown. Temesa (T.) breurei spec. nov. after eight specimens (shells) from 34 km N. of Junin. In addition a provisional key to all Peruvian Neniinae known is given, as well as a revised checklist.

The sudden appearance of Aeolidiella glauca (Gastropoda: Opisthobranchia) in lake Greveliningen (S.W. Netherlands) in 1983 and 1984 Naturalis
Dekker, R..
In 1983 and 1984 a population of the nudibranch Aeolidiella glauca (Alder & Hancock, 1845) was found in the saline Lake Grevelingen (S.W. Netherlands). The number of specimens observed exceeds by far the total number previously recorded from the Dutch coast. Field observations on food intake suggest that the sea anemone Diadumene cincta was given preference to the abundant Sagartiogeton undatus, considered by Tardy to be the favorite food of A. glauca.

Monobrachium parasitum (Cnidaria: Hydrozoa) epizoic on antarctic bivalves and its bipolarity Naturalis
Jarms, G.; Mühlenhardt-Siegel, U..
During antarctic macrozoobenthos research, colonies of Monobrachium were found on small bivalves. The species problem of the genus Monobrachium is discussed and it is stated that there are three species. However, the widespread species Monobrachium parasitum might be a species-complex comprising several species. This can only be confirmed by rearing experiments and/or molecular investigations. Host specificity and the factors influencing the infection of the bivalve species are shown. The impact of the infection is demonstrated to be harmful to the host bivalve, although not of a parasitic nature. The phenomenon of bipolarity within the genus Monobrachium is discussed.

Comparative reproductive anatomy in the South African giant land snails (Gastropoda: Pulmonata: Achatinidae) Naturalis
Mead, A.R..
The history and current taxonomic status of 62 nominal taxa are revised that have been associated in the literature with the subgenus Tholachatina Bequaert, 1950, of genus Archachatina Albers, 1850, and the genus Cochlitoma Férussac, 1821, in the land snail family Achatinidae Swainson, 1840. Tangible, reliable characters have been found in the detailed features of the reproductive anatomy in this family. The results of comparative anatomical study convincingly reflect phylogeny in contrast to the comparative study of only the shell characters. This latter more strongly reflects the effects of the intrinsically variable environment over time. In the present study, both sets of characters are needed to refine identification. Change, and therefore...

Bibliography of Cuban terrestrial Mollusca, including related and biohistorical papers on Cuban malacology Naturalis
Breure, A.S.H.; González Guillén, A..
This paper presents a comprehensive overview of literature on Cuban terrestrial molluscs since the 18th century. It currently cites approximately 1000 references, dealing with a) primary and secondary sources directly treating Cuban taxa or relevant for the study of the Cuban malacofauna; b) abstracts of congresses, unpublished theses, and internal reports ('grey literature'); and c) biohistorical papers dealing with the life and work of Cuban malacologists. To provide some context, we also give brief overviews of Cuban and non-Cuban authors and journals issued on the island relevant for Cuban malacology.

Costigulella primennilus spec. nov., a new minute western African terrestrial snail, with remarks on the genus Costigulella (Gastropoda Pulmonata: Streptaxidae) Naturalis
Winter, A.J. de.
Costigulella primennilus spec. nov. is the first representative of Costigulella reported from Cameroon. It is probably the smallest species of the family Streptaxidae known world-wide. Arguments are provided to consider Costigulella an independent radiation and genus, rather than a subgenus of Gulella. The mode of development of apertural barriers in juvenile shells in Costigulella and in other Streptaxidae is discussed.

Deshayesitid ammonites from the lower Aptian (Lower Cretaceous) of North-East Greenland Naturalis
Kelly, S.R.A.; Whitham, A.G..
Two deshayesitid ammonite assemblages are described from the Lower Cretaceous succession of the north coast of Hold with Hope, North-East Greenland, and their biostratigraphical significance is assessed. In the earlier assemblage Prodeshayesites cf. bodei and P. laeviusculus occur. The second assemblage contains Deshayesites boegvadi. The presence of P. cf. bodei suggests that the northwest European bodei Subzone of the fissicostatus Zone is represented in North-East Greenland. The occurrence of D. boegvadi, previously recorded only from Kuhn q, probably indicates the later part of the fissicostatus Zone, or the forbesi or deshayesi zones. Other occurrences of Greenland deshayesitid ammonites are discussed briefly. The new finds from Hold with Hope are...

New taxa of Streptaxidae and Enidae (Mollusca, Gastropoda Pulmonata) from South Africa and Malawi Naturalis
Bruggen, A.C. van.
For various reasons a number of discoveries in the field of Southern African malacology has now reached a point where there is no need for further delay in publication. In the course of a long term project, the revision of the Streptaxidae of Southern Africa, three new taxa have come to light which are described below. Mr. C. C. Appleton (Bilharzia Research Unit, Nelspruit, South Africa) during an extended period of research in Tongaland (NE. Zululand, South Africa) has found a remarkable new form of the genus Gulella L. Pfeiffer, 1856. This is seemingly closely related to a recently described extinct species from Aldabra Island in the western Indian Ocean (Van Bruggen, 1975). It is an unfortunate consequence of the rules of zoological nomenclature that...

The marine Molluscan assemblages of port Sudan, Red Sea Naturalis
Mastaller, M..
This study summarizes field observations and collections of the molluscan fauna of the coastal and offshore reefs in the area of Port Sudan, Central Red Sea. In spite of the fact that some families of this group were described from several areas of the Red Sea, there exists only little information on the entire faunal composition of this region. 282 species of Amphineura, Gastropoda, and Bivalvia, collected and studied in nine localities are listed according to their habitats. Moreover, descriptions of the prominent members of typical molluscan assemblages are given for 13 habitats and microhabitats which differ in their morphological structures and in their hydrographic and physiographic conditions. Emphasis is placed on further studies on the trophic...

On relict hydrobiid species in Brazilian Amazonia (Gastropoda, Prosobranchia, Hydrobiidae) Naturalis
Wesselingh, F.P..
Two extant hydrobiid species from the lower Tapajos river of Brazil are redescribed. Potamopyrgus amazonicus Haas, 1949, is assigned to the genus Dyris Conrad, 1871. At least eleven species from Miocene deposits of Western Amazonia are assigned to Dyris, a genus that was previously assumed to be extinct. The apertural features of Sioliella effusa Haas, 1949, are considered indicative of a close relationship to Miocene Amazonian taxa formaly assigned to Eubora Kadolsky, 1980. Sioliella ovata spec. nov., a Miocene species resembling S. effusa is described. The two Tapajos species can be regarded as relicts of a speciose, endemic, Miocene Western Amazonian molluscan fauna.
