| The year 1990 is the second of a regional monitoring program on production assessment of Crassostrea in Britlany. 9 sites have been tested with 3 stations per site and 3 oysters bags in each station, at 3 different densities : 170, 210 and 250 oysters per bag. 18 month old oysters stocked in bags in march were analyzed 43 weeks later, by variables concerning growth, survival, quality... The growth was lower at higher densities, more or less according to sites. As previously, differences between sites and stations are observed, with some confirmations (higher mortalities in Aber Benoît site) and also evolutions (growth and Polydora infestations improvement in Pen Bé site). |

| The network IFREMER/ REMORA watches every year, from February to December, mortality, growth and quality criteria of two oyster batches ("juveniles" = one-year class ; and "adults" = two-years class), distributed among various stations of the main French oyster areas. This network is a tool for trend estimations (geographic and chronological, on the national scale) ; it must not be regarded as an accurate estimation of professional oyster ongrowings. With regard to REMORA results, generally tallied with professional observations, 1998 on the whole was a second year of low mortality. | Nearshore is an integrated part of the coastal zone, as well as beaches and coastal dunes. However, they remain poorly studied compared to the emerged part of the system, because of the limited access for scientific monitoring. The nearshore of Combrit - Ile-Tudy (south Brittany, France), addressed in this paper, is a good example. | Pendant les années 50, la praire a joué un rôle secondaire dans le contexte maritime local. Au cours des années 50, cette espèce était ciblée par une flottille différente de la coquille Saint-Jacques de la rade de Brest, à capacité de capture modeste (flottille du Relecq Kerhuon) permettant la réalisation des captures annuelles moyennes de l'ordre de 150 tonnes. La décennie 60, après l'effondrement du stock coquillier a vu la praire occuper une place de ressource de substitution pour atteindre des productions dépassant les 400 tonnes. | We investigate the environmental and biological controls on oxygen isotope ratios in the shells of modern Pecten maximus bivalves collected alive in the Bay of Brest (France). Seasonal delta(18)O profiles, obtained by drilling the daily calcite ridges deposited at the surface of the left valve, were compared with in situ measurements of temperature and salinity. We show that P. maximus delta(18)O values accurately track seasonal variations in bottom water temperature. Shell growth rate has no significant effect on shell delta(18)O values. | The annual activity calendars of the 2,000 Breton fishing boats registered in the national POP file (with the exception of seafaring ships: 35 ocean-going tuna boats and 2 ships from Saint-Malo) were reconstituted for the year 1994 through surveys of the owners of these ships. Resorting to this method was necessary to overcome the weak statistical coverage of coastal fishing activity that is practiced within the 12 miles of territorial waters.
