During april 1995 hydrochemical research in a vertical column on the east side of the Galápagos Islands (Cruise T95/04/01) onboard of the INP R/V Tohallí indicated that concentrations of ammonium, nitrate, phosphate and chlorophyll-a were found stratified from the surface to deeper layers, on the other hand the maximum levels of nitrite and silicate were detected 70 m below the thermocline. The apparent oxygen use (AOU) varied from 1 to over 3 below the thermocline, this would indicate an oxidating environment due to the high levels of nitrate, phosphate, silicate and low concentrations of dissolved Oxygen (ca. 90-134[µM]) and ammonium (<0,1[µM]). Los cambios físicos, químicos y organolépticos en macarela (Scomber japonicus) y sardina (Sardinops sagax, Etrumeus teres) saladas durante el procesamiento y subsecuente almacenamiento en salmuera son descritos. Es evaluada además la calidad del producto desde el punto de vista microbiológico, así como también los efectos que se observan en el producto final cuando el artesano ecuatoriano usa materia prima de baja calidad. : تمثل البطارخ، مبايض سمك البوري (Mugil cephalus) والكوربين (Argyrosomus regius) المملحة و المجففة، ثروة هامة لمنطقة نواكشوط ولموريتانيا. لمعرفة مقدار الطاقة في هذه البطارخ، قمنا بدراسة كمية لمكوناتها الطاقية : الدهنيات والبروتينات و السكريات و كيفية للدهنيات. بينت هذه الدراسة أن البطارخ تحتوي على نسب ضئيلة من السكريات. ففي بطارخ الكوربين لاتتجاوز 1,95 % و3,29 %في بطارخ البوري. في هذه الأخيرة ترتفع نسبتي البروتينات و الدهنيات إلى 44,44 % و31,68 % بينما في بطارخ الكوربين تصل هاتين النسبتين إلى%55,11 و15,86 %. كما تبين أن البطارخ غنية بالطاقة حيث توجد بها 493,80 كيلوكالوري/100غ في بطارخ البوري و 384,27 كيلوكالوري/100غ في بطارح الكوربين وكل غرام من بطارخ البوري تحتوي على 28,1 ملغ أحماض دهنية و19,7 أحماض دهنية ببطارخ الكوربين . تنقسم هذه الأحماض إلى ثلاث...

The aim of this study was to determine the chemical composition and fatty acids profile present in Argentine anchovy (Engraulis anchoita) northern population as a function of fish size and fishing area (SW Atlantic Ocean, Argentine Sea). Samples were collected during the northern stock assessment cruise of the Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Pesquero (INIDEP) carried out on board of FRV Capitán Oca Balda in Spring 2008 (OB-02/2008). Se presenta un estudio de las características hidroquímicas de las aguas de Bahía Chile, para los veranos de 1995 y 1998, basado en la distribución horizontal de la concentración de parámetros físicos y químicos determinada en muestras de agua obtenidas en nueve estaciones localizadas en tres perfiles perpendiculares a las costas de la bahía, considerando tanto las aguas de la desembocadura, cuanto la parte central e interior de la misma. This work assessed the effect of biomass composition (ash, volatile matter and fixed carbon content, carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen content, lignin, extractives and holocellulose content) on the condensable gas yield from the torrefaction of rice husk (Oryza sativa L.), jatropha seed husk (Jatropha curcas L.), elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schum. var. mineiro); sugarcane bagasse (Sacharum officinarum L.) and bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris ex J.C. ABSTRACT This study aims to evaluate the possibility to formulate low-sodium bicarbonate-marinated turkey breast meat. In total, 60 meat cuts (100 × 50 × 30mm) were divided into four treatments: B1 (0.5% sodium bicarbonate and 0% sodium chloride replacement), B2 (0.5% sodium bicarbonate and 15% sodium chloride replacement), B3 (0.5% sodium bicarbonate and 30% sodium chloride replacement), and B4 (0.5% sodium bicarbonate and 45% sodium chloride replacement). The results showed that sodium replacement up to 45% had no impact on texture (as represented by Allo-Kramer shear values) and water activity. ABSTRACT Cover crops have numerous benefits when used in a no-till system. Understanding the processes of decomposition and N release of summer cover crops (SCC) may help select species and management to be used in cropping systems. This study aimed to evaluate C and N loss of SCC shoots. Six SCCs were evaluated: velvet bean (Mucuna aterrima), pearl millet (Pennisetum americanum), dwarf pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan), sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea), showy rattlebox (Crotalaria spectabilis), and jack bean (Canavalia ensiformis). The experiment was conducted for two years under no-till in soil classified as Typic Hapludalf (Argissolo).
