For the first time a gregarious parasitoid belonging to the genus Phaenocarpa Foerster, 1862 (Braconidae: Alysiinae) is reported, and described as P. helophilae spec. nov. from England. The first record of Chloropidae as host for a Phaenocarpa species is given; P. livida (Haliday, 1838) reared from Calamoncosis (Rhaphiopyga) glyceriae Nartshuk, 1958. Sathra debilis Foerster, 1862, is synonymised with P. livida (Haliday). Additionally, Phaenocarpa curticauda spec. nov. from The Netherlands is described and fully illustrated. A lectotype is designated for Alysia pectoralis Zetterstedt, 1838, and Phaenocarpa rufoflava Papp, 1968, is recognised as a valid species. |

Generic issues around Teleopsis are discussed: it is proposed to maintain the genera Teleopsis Rondani, 1875 s.s., Megalabops Frey, 1928 and Cyrtodiopsis Frey, 1928 s.s. Four Teleopsis Rondani species are described from the Philippines: T. cobiae spec. nov., T. freyi spec. nov., T. nitidifacies spec. nov. and T. nitidiscutum spec. nov. Five Teleopsis species from the Philippines are redescribed: T. boettcheri Frey, 1928, T. motatrix Osten Sacken, 1882, T. pharao Frey, 1928, T. selecta Osten Sacken, 1882, and T. shillitoi Tenorio, 1969. For T. boettcheri and T. motatrix lectotypes are designated and for T. pharao a neotype. Four other Teleopsis were, based on misidentifications, previously recorded for the Philippines: T. belzebuth (Bigot, 1874), T.... |

Craneflies of the family Tipulidae are a well-known group of the Diptera, consisting of large, long-legged nematocerous flies. Many species are more or less uniform yellow, grey or brown, but some are bright red or yellow and black. The wings can have extensive dark patterns. The subgenus Pterelachisus of the genus Tipula holds nine species in the Netherlands and in this paper species number 10 is introduced: T. (P.) trifascingulata. It is a rather conspicuous insect with a very characteristic wing pattern. It was only known from 25 records worldwide. In 2012, the year of discovery in the Netherlands, the species was found no less than nine times, in different parts of the country. This is an indication that the species has recently reached the... |
