| The U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) holds the world's largest collection of publicly available oceanographic data. The main NODC facility is located in Silver Spring, Maryland. The NODC also has field offices collocated with major government or academic oceanographic laboratories in Stennis Space Center, MS; Miami, FL; La Jolla, CA; Seattle, WA, and Honolulu, HI. | The CYNODC operates within the Oceanography Centre of the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research (OC-DFMR). The latter institution, which is the main centre for marine research in Cyprus, has a long term experience, more than 15 years, in oceanographic data management and archiving, bottles, XBTs and CTD data. The CYNODC main hardware equipment consist of a Compaq Alfa Server RISC 64-bi processor, 2CPUs, > 70Mflops and other supporting hardware. The CYNODC software consist of a Tru64 UNIX operating system, oracle server and developer 2000, MATLAB for UNIX, Fortran and +C complilers. |

| Continuous measurements were taken of oceanographic and meteorological parameters for two stations of the Global Ocean Observing System of the Southwest Caribbean, framed in the INAP project. The response of the surface layer, to atmospheric events, allowed to differentiate the pass of two cold fronts by Johnny Cay station (San Andres Island) and the arrival of the “Veranillo” in the sensors of Tesoro Island (Islas del Rosario, Cartagena). The cold fronts produced a decrease in the atmospheric pressure, air temperature, caused radical changes in wind direction and speed followed by precipitation. | During april 1995 hydrochemical research in a vertical column on the east side of the Galápagos Islands (Cruise T95/04/01) onboard of the INP R/V Tohallí indicated that concentrations of ammonium, nitrate, phosphate and chlorophyll-a were found stratified from the surface to deeper layers, on the other hand the maximum levels of nitrite and silicate were detected 70 m below the thermocline. | The need to have an organization devoted to gathering the oceanographic and environmental data and information distributed among several institutions and researchers, led to the establishment in 1969 of a DNA. As a result of this earlier effort, the Centro Argentino de Datos Oceanograficos (CEADO) was created under an agreement between the Argentine Navy Hydrographic Service (SHN) and the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET), and designated in 1974 as NODC. | Tal y como se informó en la XVI Sesion de IODE celebrada en Lisboa, Portugal 2002, en Cuba solo existen dos centros de datos de instituciones marinas. El Centro de Datos del Instituto de Oceanología y el Centro de Datos del Grupo Empresarial GEOCUBA, continúan brindando servicios en régimen de demanda eventual. Cuba no ha solicitado la oficialización de un NODC o de un ADN porque se considera que no existen las condiciones idóneas para ello. No obstante ello, a partir del año 2000, se realizaron una serie de acciones que ayudarán en la preparación de los recursos humanos para conformar los centros de datos. |

| The fourth session of the Joint IOC-WMO Technical Commission for Oceanography and Marine Meteorology (JCOMM-4) took place in Yeosu, from 28 to 31 May 2012, hosted by the Republic of Korea through the Korean Meteorological Administration, the Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea organizing committee, the government of Jeollanamdo province and the city of Yeosu. An opening ceremony on 23 May was followed by a Scientific and Technical Workshop on 24-25 May 2012. There were some 140 participants in the session, from 47 Members/Member States and 4 international organizations. All final approved session documents are available on the JCOMM website (www.jcomm.info/jcomm4). |
