An agrarian sensorial system based on temperature, moisture, and all solid-state ion-selective potentiometric sensors was developed with the objective of monitoring the behavior of H+ and Ca2+ ions in soil and in real conditions, contributing with a new tool that tries to complement the current precision agriculture technology. The evaluation of the sensorial system to pH monitoring presented a good correlation between the results obtained by the system and the standard methodology, allowing us to notice the soil buffer capacity at different soil depths. With regard to calcium, the sensor system also presented an agreement between its results and those obtained by flame atomic absorption spectrometry, using a calibration model based on multiple linear... |

Abstract. The severity of plant diseases, traditionally the proportion of the plant tissue exhibiting symptoms, is a key quantitative variable to know for many diseases and is prone to error. Good quality disease severity data should be accurate (close to the true value). Earliest quantification of disease severity was by visual estimates. Sensor-based image analysis including visible spectrum and hyperspectral and multispectral sensors are established technologies that promise to substitute, or complement visual ratings. Indeed, these technologies have measured disease severity accurately under controlled conditions but are yet to demonstrate their full potential for accurate measurement under field conditions. Sensor technology is advancing rapidly, and... |

The objective of this study was the spatial identification of the NDVI index and cotton yield distributions through different crop phenological stages using geostatistical methods in Goiás state, Brazil. The experiment was carried out in a commercial field with 47.4 ha, in 80x80m georeferenced grid with 74 plots. Yield monitor data and multispectral satellite images at 56 m spatial resolution were collected in a rainfed cotton field in two dates to monitor the plant vigor. Satellite images of AWiFS sensor were acquired on 08/02/2011 and 01/04/2011, during the first flowering and fruiting cotton stages, respectively, corresponding to 70 and 120DAE (days after emergence). Measures of canopy reflectance, plant height and leaf nitrogen content were determined... |

Abstract: The rapid population growth has driven the demand for more food, fiber, energy, and water, which is associated to an increase in the need to use natural resources in a more sustainable way. The use of precision agriculture machinery and equipment since the 1990s has provided important productive gains and maximized the use of agricultural inputs. The growing connectivity in the rural environment, in addition to its greater integration with data from sensor systems, remote sensors, equipment, and smartphones have paved the way for new concepts from the so-called Agriculture 4.0 or Digital Agriculture. This article presents the results of a survey carried out with 504 Brazilian farmers about the digital technologies in use, as well as current and... |

Abstract. A rapidly growing population in a context of land and water scarcity, and climate change has driven an increase in healthy, nutritious, and affordable food demand while maintaining the current cropping area. Digital agriculture (DA) can contribute solutions to meet the demands in an efficient and sustainable way. South America (SA) is one of the main grain and protein producers in the world but the status of DA in the region is unknown. Systematic review of official reports and surveys, literature, and case studies from Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile was conducted to address the following objectives: i) quantify adoption of existing DA technologies, ii) identify limitations for DA adoption, iii) summarize existing metrics to benchmark DA... |
