Genetic polymorphism of GSTM1 in women with breast cancer and interact with reproductive history and several clinical pathologies Biol. Res.

Due to the conflicting results regarding the association between breast cancerand the GSTM1 null mutation, our aim was to research this associationin a Brazilian population and correlations withsmoking, reproductive history and several clinical pathologies. A case-control study was performed on 105 women with breast cancer and 278 controls. Extraction of DNA was accomplished according to the protocol of the GFX® kit and polymorphism analysis by the PCR technique. Divalent cation hinder the solubilization of a tubulin kinase activity from Trypanosoma cruzi epimastigotes Biol. Res.

Trypanosoma cruzi epimastigotes were extracted under various conditions in order to examine the role of divalent cations in the solubilization of microtubule proteins. When epimastigotes were homogenized in the presence of 5 mM Mg+2 and 5 mM Ca+2, a protein kinase responsible for phosphorylating tubulin, as well as the tubulin that became phosphorylated, remained tightly associated with the parasite particulate and detergent-resistant fractions. Statins reduce cholesterol levels by inhibiting 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase and have a major place in the treatment of atherosclerotic disease. The molecular machinery controlling the sorting from the newly synthesized vesicles from the Golgi apparatus to the plasma membrane play a key role in the regulation of both the number and spatial location of the vesicles. In this context the mammalian acrosome is a unique vesicle since it is the only secretory vesicle attached to the nucleus. This work describes the involvement of TRPC proteins in capacitative calcium entry (CCE) induced by 1a,25-dihydroxy-vitamin-D3 [1a,25(OH)2D3] in chick skeletal muscle and in rat osteoblast-like cells (ROS 17/2.8) and the role of the vitamin D receptor (VDR) in this non-genomic rapid response mediated by the hormone. We propose that an endogenous TRPC3 protein mediates 1a,25(OH)2D3 modulation of CCE in these cells, which seems to implicate VDR-TRPC3 association and the participation of an INAD-like scaffold protein.

Human beings evolved on a diet that was balanced in the omega-6 and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), and was high in antioxidants. Edible wild plants provide alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and higher amounts of vitamin E and vitamin C than cultivated plants. In addition to the antioxidant vitamins, edible wild plants are rich in phenols and other compounds that increase their antioxidant capacity. Compared with other tissues the difference is that, during bone repairing and regeneration, after the inflammatory phase the mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are recruited to the injury site and differentiate into either chondroblasts or osteoblasts precursors, leading to bone repairing and regeneration.
