Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura), commonly known as Spotted Wing Drosophila (SWD), is a worldwide serious economic threat to the production of berries and stone fruits. The chemical control widely used against this pest is often not able to preventing yield losses because wild flora offers an abundance of fruits to D. suzukii where the pest is able to reproduce and from where it recolonizes neighbouring cultivated fields. Alternatively, within Integrated Pest Management protocols for D. suzukii, biological control could play a key role by reducing its populations particularly in non-cultivated habitats, thus increasing the effectiveness and reducing the side negative effects of other management strategies. Because of the scarcity and of the low efficiency of... |

During an acarological study of brackish habitats in the Netherlands, a wingless species of Chasmodon was discovered. Because of the intermediate shape of the notauli it was not possible to identify it with the key of Hedqvist (1962), and therefore I propose another key for the wingless and brachypterous specimens of Alysiinae. The new species is compared with C. apterus (Nees von Esenbeck, 1812), which is the only other species of the genus. Key to the genera of wingless and brachypterous Alysiinae 1. Scutellum indistinct, strong constriction in middle of mesosoma; second abdominal tergite petiolate. (Mediterranean; 4 spp.)........... .............Pseudopezomachus Mantero, 1905 — Scutellum distinct, constriction wanting; second tergite may be slender, but... |

The primary types of social wasp subfamilies Vespinae, Polistinae and Stenogastrinae housed in the Nationaal Natuurhistorisch Museum in Leiden and the Zoölogisch Museum in Amsterdam are listed. Their complete label data are given unless they are available elsewhere. Lectotypes of Polistes snelleni de Saussure, 1862, P. malayanus Cameron, 1906, P. melanopterus Cameron, 1911, P. javanicus Cameron, 1905, Icaria capensis de Saussure, 1862, 7. plebeja de Saussure, 1862, Stenogater micans de Saussure, 1852, and Ischnogaster foveatus du Buysson, 1907, are designated. |

The new genus Kollasmosoma (Braconidae: Neoneurinae; type species: Elasmosoma platamonense Huddleston, 1976, from the Mediterranean area) is described and illustrated. New combinations are: Kollasmosoma cubiceps (Huddleston, 1976), K. marikovskii (Tobias, 1986), and K. platamonense (Huddleston, 1976). A key to the genera of Neoneurinae is added, and the type species of the known genera are illustrated. |

The alysiine genus Adelurola Strand, 1928 (Hymenoptera, Braconidae) is revised. Illustrated re-descriptions and a key to all known species of this genus are given. The following new combination is proposed: Dapsilarthra eurys (Chen & Wu, 1994), comb. n. Adelurola amplidens (Fischer, 1966) and A. asiatica Telenga, 1935 are recorded for the first time from Iran and Kyrgyzstan, respectively. |

A review is given of the parasites (parasitoids) of the African cereal stem borers (including introduced species) belonging to the family Braconidae (Hymenoptera); 38 species belonging to 19 genera are keyed and treated. Three new species are described: Macrocentrus sesamivorus spec. nov. from Kenya, Somalia, and Zaïre (Macrocentrinae), Iphiaulax pilisoma spec. nov. from Senegal, and Amyosoma flavistigma spec. nov. from Australia (Braconinae). New synonyms are: Euglyptobracon Telenga, 1936, with Pseudovipio Szépligeti, 1896; Lorenzoa de Stefani-Perez, 1909, Kulczynskia Niezabitowski, 1910, and Chivinia Shestakov, 1932, with Bracon Fabricius, 1804; Euvipio Szépligeti, 1904, with Stenobracon Szépligeti, 1901; Glyptomorpha baetica var. mauretanica Szépligeti,... |
