Notes on Phyllophorinae (Orthoptera, Tettigoniidae) from new Guinea Orthopterological Notes VII 1) Naturalis
Jong, C. de.
In the present paper I have brought together the results of my studies of material from various collections made in New Guinea. One new genus and some new species are described and figured, viz., Microsasima gen. nov. related to Phyllophorina, with as type-species Microsasima stueberi spec. nov.; Phyllophora cheesmanae spec. nov., and Phyllophora similis spec. nov. Further the paper gives new information concerning species previously described from one sex only, viz., Sasima bifurcate Bolívar I., ♀ plesioallotype; also information is presented on the infraspecific variability and geographical distribution of some other species. The basis for the modern study of the subfamily is Karny's monograph (Karny, 1924), which gives considerable information on most...

Peristenus varisae spec. nov. (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) parasitizing the European tarnished plant bug, Lygus rugulipennis Poppius (Heteroptera: Miridae) Naturalis
Varis, A.-L.; Achterberg, C. van.
Nymphs and adults of Lygus species, mainly L. rugulipennis Poppius were collected from wheat fields in southern Finland, near Helsinki. The parasitization rate of braconid species was determined by dissection of the hosts. Parasitoids were reared from separate samples from the same fields. The parasitization rate was low, the maximum percentage occurring during the season, examined in 10-day periods, was 14%. All nymphal instars, except the first one, were found to be parasitized; the mean varied from 3% (third instar) to 6.5% (fourth instar). In adult hosts the mean parasitization rate was 2% in males and 4% in females. The percentage of parasitization in both nymphs and adults was higher in wheat bordering fields with a mixture of field bean and oats or...

Braet, Y.; Achterberg, C. van.
Two new species of the genus Foenomorpha Szépligeti, 1904, are described (F. rufa spec. nov. from Brazil and F. senlura spec. nov. from French Guiana). A key to the known species is added and notes on the other two species are added. Foenomorpha filicornis (Cameron, 1887) is a new combination for Cenocoelius filicornis Cameron. An aberrant group of Chelonus with very slender antennal segments and a protuberant scutellum from French Guiana and Suriname is described and included in the new subgenus Baculonus (type species: C. pachytellus spec. nov.). Epsilogaster palenque Whitfield & Mason, 1994, is reported for the first time from Costa Rica.

Indo-malayan and Papuan fig wasps (Hymenoptera, Chalcidoidea) : 2. The genus Pleistodontes Saunders (Agaonidae) Naturalis
Wiebes, J.T..
Until now, the genus Pleistodontes Saunders is known from the Australian continent and from Lord Howe Island. Two species were introduced into the Hawaiian Islands. Samples of fig wasps from New Guinea and from the Solomon Islands were sent to me by Mr. E. J. H. Corner. They proved to consist of new species of Pleistodontes, which are described below. In addition, some new records of Australian species, mostly taken from the collection of the Hawaiian Sugar Planters' Association ("H.S.P.A."), Honolulu, are given, and the type species of the genus is redescribed. The records and "descriptions" by Girault are not considered in the present paper, as the typical material is being studied by Mr. E. F. Riek. A discussion on the host records follows the...

Berg, A. van der; Haveman, R.; Hornman, M..
Gampsocleis glabra rediscovered in the Netherlands (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) Until recently, Gampsocleis glabra was considered to be extinct in the Netherlands since 1987. In 1999, this species was found in large accounts at the military firing range Oldebroek in the province of Gelderland. Gampsocleis glabra seems to prefer open heath (Genisto-Callunetum danthonietosum) and grassland communities (Galia hercynici-Festucetum ovinae) with a low moss abundance. On the Oldebroekse Heide the vegetation is burnt periodically, with a cyclus of 8 years. It is remarkable that on the Lüneburger Heide (Niedersachsen, Germany) the vegetation is burnt on a large scale too. This is the only other site where G. glabra survived in northwestern Europe.

A revision of the genus Parastasia in the Indo-Australian region (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Rutelinae) Naturalis
Kuijten, P.J..
A revision is presented of the species in the genus Parastasia. All known species are described, 11 new species are established, the parameres of most species are figured, the taxonomic levels of several taxa are changed, and 21 new synonymies are proposed. For many taxa lectotypes are designated and many specimens bearing incorrect or dubious type labels are degraded to their true status. Some aspects of distribution and dispersal are shortly discussed. A tentative key and a check list are added.

Catalogue of the Coleoptera Cetoniidae in the Leiden museum : 1. Goliathus Lamarck, sensu lato Naturalis
Wiebes, J.T..
The collection of Cetoniid Coleoptera in the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie at Leiden contains, next to the usual assortment of chafers from various sources, several collections made by well-known specialists. Most important is the one made by F.T. Valck Lucassen (including the collection of O.E. Janson), acquired by the museum in 1940. A world collection of Cetoniidae is being arranged on the basis of this Valck Lucassen material. In 1928, the collection of G. van Roon was bequeathed to the museum, where it is to remain as such, not incorporated in the main collection. The data of the collection will be presented in this and forthcoming parts of a catalogue, accompanied by such revisional notes which it seems desirable to publish. Reference is here...

Some remarks on Cicindela saetigera Horn Naturalis
Jong, C. de.
In 1936 five specimens of the beautiful beetle Cicindela saetigera Horn (fig. 1) were collected by Prof. Dr. L. G. M. Baas Becking and Dr. J. Reuter on their journey in Australia and kindly given to the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie at Leiden. As this rather uncommon species was new to the collections of the Museum I studied the literature on the species in more detail, especially after Prof. Baas Becking had told me a few details concerning its life conditions. Our specimens, all males, were caught at the following dates and localities: 4 specimens, March 27, 1936. Lake Bumbunga, N. from Bay St. Vincent, S. Australia. 1 specimen, April 15, 1936. Lake Crosbie, SW. from Mildura, N.W.Victoria. First of all I can state, that in most of the papers...
