In the present paper I have brought together the results of my studies of material from various collections made in New Guinea. One new genus and some new species are described and figured, viz., Microsasima gen. nov. related to Phyllophorina, with as type-species Microsasima stueberi spec. nov.; Phyllophora cheesmanae spec. nov., and Phyllophora similis spec. nov. Further the paper gives new information concerning species previously described from one sex only, viz., Sasima bifurcate Bolívar I., ♀ plesioallotype; also information is presented on the infraspecific variability and geographical distribution of some other species. The basis for the modern study of the subfamily is Karny's monograph (Karny, 1924), which gives considerable information on most... |

Since 1896, about seventy-two species of aphids have been described from this part of India by different workers. The species so far described are distributed over about forty-two genera. The present paper brings the number of species to seventy-four and that of the genera to forty-three. Lachnus titabarensis nov. spec. Kailasius charltonius flaugeri subsp. nov. (Taf. 1 Fig. 1,2) Babouzar-Pass, Kohistan, S.W. Himalaya, 4000 m, Juli 1974, 1 ♂ Holotype, 2 ♂, 4♀ Paratypen in c. N. Flauger, 1 ♀ Allo- und Ikonotype, 3 ♀ 3 ♂ Paratypen in c. Eisner, in c. Until now, the genus Pleistodontes Saunders is known from the Australian continent and from Lord Howe Island. Two species were introduced into the Hawaiian Islands. Samples of fig wasps from New Guinea and from the Solomon Islands were sent to me by Mr. E. J. H. Corner. They proved to consist of new species of Pleistodontes, which are described below. In addition, some new records of Australian species, mostly taken from the collection of the Hawaiian Sugar Planters' Association ("H.S.P.A."), Honolulu, are given, and the type species of the genus is redescribed. The records and "descriptions" by Girault are not considered in the present paper, as the typical material is being studied by Mr. E. F. Riek. A discussion on the host records follows the... |

The collection of Cetoniid Coleoptera in the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie at Leiden contains, next to the usual assortment of chafers from various sources, several collections made by well-known specialists. Most important is the one made by F.T. Valck Lucassen (including the collection of O.E. Janson), acquired by the museum in 1940. A world collection of Cetoniidae is being arranged on the basis of this Valck Lucassen material. In 1928, the collection of G. van Roon was bequeathed to the museum, where it is to remain as such, not incorporated in the main collection. The data of the collection will be presented in this and forthcoming parts of a catalogue, accompanied by such revisional notes which it seems desirable to publish. Reference is here... |

In 1936 five specimens of the beautiful beetle Cicindela saetigera Horn (fig. 1) were collected by Prof. Dr. L. G. M. Baas Becking and Dr. J. Reuter on their journey in Australia and kindly given to the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie at Leiden. As this rather uncommon species was new to the collections of the Museum I studied the literature on the species in more detail, especially after Prof. Baas Becking had told me a few details concerning its life conditions. Our specimens, all males, were caught at the following dates and localities: 4 specimens, March 27, 1936. Lake Bumbunga, N. from Bay St. Vincent, S. Australia. 1 specimen, April 15, 1936. Lake Crosbie, SW. from Mildura, N.W.Victoria. First of all I can state, that in most of the papers... |
