| The coast region of Paraná State, Brazil, has a great potential for growing of pupunha trees aiming palm heart production due to climate conditions. There were around one million pupunha trees planted at small farmers area, totalizing about 200 ha, in this region by the end of 2004. This fact confirms the specie as a sustainable and economicaly viable alternative for small farmers as long as the natural stands of juçara (Euterpe edulis) are raryng. | O uso dos produtos à base de plantas medicinais surge como uma forte tendência mundial. Esse é considerado um mercado promissor e apresenta números expressivos, tornando-se um ambiente de negócio atrativo. Entretanto, apesar de toda importância social e econômica, o Brasil e o Paraná não tem investido adequadamente na produção, industrialização e distribuição dessas plantas. Nesse contexto, buscou-se, através desse trabalho, caracterizar e analisar a produção de plantas medicinais no estado do Paraná. | The objective of this paper is to analyse the matrix of technological capabilities of the sugar cane industry in Paraná State, showing your characteristic in the ambits of the investments, operation/production, innovation and relationships with the economy. The results of the matrix of technological capabilities show that the fact of not existing great concentrations for technological capabilities, for the advanced level, common in sugar cane industry, it is still derived of the secular subvencionist paradigm that reigned in the section until the nineties. | This piece of work was accomplished objectifying to analyze the technological strategies in the sugar-cane agro-industry in the state of Paraná, using Freeman’s classification ( 1974 ) as a theorical reference. The “inquiry” technic through questionnaires sent by mail was the means put forward for the gathering of primary data. As a corollary, the sample of the Paraná units researched put in evidence the economical benefitting from the sub-products of sugar-cane in the use of agricultural and mechanical technologies, which has reflected on the high rates of agricultural and industrial profits of the segment.The capacity of generating jobs in the segment was also evident, as well as the significant number of establishments which count on their own P&D.... |

| Based in concepts and models of “commercialization”, this work has as objective to analyze the transmissions of prices between producer, attacked and retail of the productive chain of the beans in the state of the Paraná, in the period of 1995/ 2003. | This research presents novel data on tree marking by the giant anteater, a large Neotropical mammal threatened in the state of Paraná and other areas of Brazil, and nearly threatened worldwide. Field work was carried out in the municipality of Jaguariaíva, Paraná (Southern Brazil) with the goal of evaluating the pine marking behavior of the giant anteater and ascertaining whether wildfires interfere with it. | In Parana (Brazil), pork production has been present since the beginning of colonization of the state, especially in the West, where it was just a subsistence activity for families and subsequently has become a source of family income. | A implementação do modelo produtivista na agricultura brasileira provocou importantes alterações no espaço rural, afetando o seu desenvolvimento. O setor agrícola paranaense inseriu-se nesse processo, apresentando mudanças significativas na sua estrutura produtiva, com reflexos econômicos e sociais importantes no meio rural. Neste sentido, este trabalho objetivou mensurar o índice de desenvolvimento rural dos municípios paranaenses, identificando os fatores determinantes. | Diapterus rhombeus (Cuvier, 1829) is one of the most common Gerreidae species in the estuarine region at the Guaratuba Bay, Southern Brazil. Based on studies developed between July, 1993 and January, 1997, it was observed that its presence in the mangrove area is not regular: the smallest individuais are more abundam during late summer and in autumn, and the largest ones during spring and early summer. Its diet comprises plant material and invertebrates, specially polychaets.
