L’agricoltura biologica, e in particolare la viticoltura biologica, sono cresciute considerevolmente nell’ultimo decennio ed hanno ancora ampi margini di miglioramento. Il progetto di ricerca VineMan.org (www.vineman-org.eu), finanziato nell’ambito del network europeo di cooperazione transnazionale CORE Organic II, ha l’obiettivo di migliorare il controllo delle malattie, uno dei principali e più difficili compiti del viticultore biologico, integrando la resistenza delle piante, pratiche agricole di gestione del vigneto, i sistemi di supporto alle decisioni e l’utilizzo di agenti di biocontrollo. |

We developed a new protocol to study arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal (AMF) communities in Bordeaux vineyards in a standardized way, in order to compare results obtained over years and between locations. To this end, we first used grapevine root samples instead of soil samples to avoid AMF spores or hyphae interacting with cover plants. We next increased the number of grapevine samples to obtain more representative coverage of AMF communities while decreasing variability intra-vineyard, especially for the larger parcels. Based on a field trial, the impact of three different viticultural management strategies on vigour and grapevine physiology of Vitis vinifera cv. Riesling was compared. The six products, Armicarb, Vitisan, lime sulphur, Caso, Calce Fiocco and Ulmasud were tested for their ability to control downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola) on grapevine (Vitis vinifera) in order to find effective alternatives to copper, a heavy metal that is commonly used as a fungicide in organic viticulture. Each product was applied to potted grapevines at i) 40°h (degree hours) and ii) 80°h after inoculation (ai) of the pathogen. In der Schweiz stehen für die Bekämpfung von P. viticola Kupfer und Tonerdeprodukte wie Myco-San, Myco-Sin, und Ulmasud zur Verfügung. Die Praxis hat das Wirkungspotential gezeigt und es werden verschiedene Anwendungsstrategien angewandt. Die breite Wirkung des Schwefels (Stäubeschwefel, Netzschwefel) gegen unterschiedliche Schaderreger macht den weiteren Einsatz des Mittels sinnvoll und notendig. Beim Einsatz von Schwefel sind seine Nebenwirkungen (Raubmilbenbeeinflussung, Gär- und Geschmacksbeeinflussung) zu beachten. Schwefel stellt neben Kupfer eines der wichtigsten Pflanzenschutzmitteln im ökologischen Weinbau dar. La drosophile du cerisier (Drosophila suzukii), qui est arrivée en Europe en 2008 depuis le sud-est de l’Asie, peut provoquer des dégâts considérables. Elle s’attaque à tous les fruits tendres comme les baies, les cerises, les prunes et le raisin. Et de nombreuses plantes sauvages comme le sureau et la viorne obier lui servent de plantes-hôtes. The objective of the UE-funded program REPCO (FP6) was to identify new alternatives to copper fungicides in organic farming. Two pathogens have been considered: grapevine downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola) and apple scab (Venturia inaequalis). Research on grapevine was carried out by GRAB (Avignon, France) and FEM-IASMA (San Michele all’Adige, Italy). Trials were carried out under natural conditions in order to test reduced doses of copper and copper-free alternatives. Five-year trials proved that copper is the best fungicide. In organic farming the copper compounds are the only substances that can be used against downy mildew. As the copper causes problems of environmental impact, the Regulation EC n. 473/2002 fixed a ceiling on its use. Two-years experimental trials (2007-2008) were carried out in organic vineyard in order to evaluate anti-downy mildew effectiveness of natural products. Homeopathic products, resistance promoters, plant extracts and potassium bicarbonate have been tested. La flavescence dorée de la vigne et la lutte obligatoire contre son vecteur Scaphoideus titanus posent d’importants problèmes dans les vignobles conduits en culture biologique. Afin de développer une stratégie de lutte basée sur des insecticides compatibles avec la viticulture biologique, des essais en plein champ ont été conduits au Tessin en 2006-2007. Le Parexan N (pyréthrine + huile de sésame) s’est avéré le seul produit biologique efficace à plus de 90% contre les formes immatures de S. titanus, par contre il n’a eu aucun effet contre les adultes. Une lutte efficace contre les pathogènes fongiques de la vigne implique des connaissances de plus en plus fines sur l'organisme pathogène en question: ceci tant au niveau de sa physiologie, de sa génétique, de son mode de propagation et ses stratégies d'infection, que sur la modélisation de l'infection, le diagnostic, la détection précoce, de même que sur l'étude des mécanismes de résistance de la vigne contre ces différents pathogènes fongiques.
