| Les premiers résultats de nos recherches ont été exposés dans une communication au Conseil International pour l'Exploration de la Mer en 1957. Ils pouvaient être ainsi résumés : Le cycle sexuel semble être moins long pour les huîtres cultivées sur parcs que pour celles fixées naturellement sur pieux. Un même animal est vraisemblablement capable de pondre au moins deux fois pendant les mois d'été. Le volume de gonade diminue progressivement, ce qui rend malaisée la distinction des stades macroscopiques permettant une étude statistique. La taille des ovocytes diminue également pendant la saison; un nouveau matériel apparaît puis évolué (phénomènes de reconstitution permettant de prévoir des émissions tardives). |

Or, depuis quelques années, les oeufs de morue sont utilisés dans l'alimentation humaine, ce qui a fait monter les prix et réduit le contingent affecté à la pêche, d'où les difficultés de plus en plus grandes qu'éprouvent les coopératives pour approvisionner les sardiniers. | Le "Président Théodore Tissier" a quitté BREST le 15 Septembre 1956, touché SETE le 25 et entrepris dès le 27 sa deuxième campagne en Méditerranée. Il a consacré tout d'abord une quinzaine de jours à l'étude de la situation hydrologique dans le nord du bassin occidental. A partir du 14 octobre et jusqu'au 8 décembre il a poursuivi et complété les recherches sur les fonds chalutables commencées en 1957. Pour ne parler ici que des travaux concernant le chalut, une centaine de pêches, une cinquantaine de dragages et de très nombreux relevés de fond au sondeur ultra-sonore ont été effectués au cours de ces deux campagnes. Ils permettent de préciser les possibilités de chalutage au nord du 41ème parallèle, des côtes catalanes aux côtes italiennes. |

| In 1935 the present author reported the occurrence of this N. American species in the eastern part of Holland, province of Overijssel, in the vicinity of Almelo (JONKER, 1935). He found the species near the hamlet of Harbrinkhoek on a wet heath. The locality was also the only station of Wahlenbergia hederacea in the Netherlands, discovered a year before. Notwithstanding the extensive reclamations in that part of the country the species now still occurs in a number of localities around Almelo. The plants cannot be considered adventitious as they were found in places that are comparatively little influenced by human culture, judging from the occurrence, on the first-discovered locality, of e.g. Wahlenbergia hederacea. | The main purpose of this study is to search for an explanation of the curious differentiation within the genus Chamaeleo. Since the species of this genus are rather doubtful units, I have studied the geograpical distribution of characters, not of the species, a method first used in botany (BAUR, ROTHMALER a.o.). I found that the number of characters is largest in east Afrika, gradually decreasing from this area to the periphery of the total range of the genus. East Africa proved to be still more important, as practically all the characters occur in it. This means that the chameleons in the other areas practically never possess characters that are not found in east Africa.
