| The Pantanal cat Leopardus braccatus (Cope, 1889) is a small-sized felid found in the open biomes of Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay and northeastern Argentina. We provide a new record for the northeast of the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, based on a road-killed specimen. This is the easternmost known record of the Pantanal cat, extending its range about 310 km, in a Cerrado-Caatinga-Atlantic Forest ecotone. |

| We describe and illustrate Paepalanthus sphaeroides (Eriocaulaceae, Paepalanthoideae) from the Mantiqueira Range in South-eastern Brazil and compare it with the morphologically most similar species: Paepalanthus aequalis and Paepalanthus eriophaeus. Paepalanthus sphaeroides has unique membranaceous sheaths tightly adpressed to the scapes, patent involucral bracts slightly surpassing the capitula, and sepals of the staminate flowers fused from the base to the middle as distinctive characteristics. Comments on morphological variation, geographical distribution, ecology, conservation status, as well as a distribution map, line drawings, and photos are provided. |

| The termite fauna of a plantation of Eucaliptus urophylla S.T. Blake (Myrtales: Mytaceae) in Buritis, Minas Gerais, was manually sampled in 12 transects. The assemblage contained 28 species belonging to Termitidae and Rhinotermitidae. This assemblage corresponds to a subset of the native fauna of the cerrado previously present in this region. Compared to the original native fauna, it has a lower species richness, a much lower proportion of soil-feeders and a higher proportion of litter-feeders. A total of 1600 recently cut trees were examined and only three (0.2%) had damage to the heartwood caused by Coptotermes sp. | A metodologia proposta pelo Inventário Florestal de Minas Gerais consiste em utilizar dados coletados usualmente no inventário florestal quantitativo para auxiliar a classificação da regeneração no Cerrado. Dados de sete inventários florestais foram utilizados para cálculo do número de indivíduos, área basal, diâmetro médio quadrático, média das alturas e percentual de indivíduos na primeira classe diamétrica, e, juntamente com análise visual, classificou-se os estágios de regeneração. Concluise que a metodologia se mostrou eficiente, auxiliando na classificação dos estágios de regeneração, utilizando apenas os dados quantitativos (DAP ≥ 5 cm), sem o estabelecimento de novas parcelas para amostragem da regeneração natural. |

| Given the relevance of the credit unions at national and world level, the objective of this work was to describe the profile of the financial cooperatives from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. This study is based on data collected in the period of May to June of 2004, and the sample of 18.85% of the population was selected to supply data. The results indicate that the cooperatives were, on average, 16 years old; 92% of the associates that requested loans were assisted; the delinquent loans level were of 22.34%; and older cooperatives established smaller interest rates than the new ones. | This study aimed to analyze the economic structure of Minas Gerais State, Brazil, to measure the agribusiness sector of the state in the years of 1980 and 1996 and to evaluate the agribusiness share on total GDP formation, based on inter-regional input-output matrices. The principal results obtained were: a) a significant change in the agribusiness structure occurred from 1980 to 1996; b) the share of aggregate I in total agribusiness increased expressively, rising from 12.31% in 1980 to 20.24% in 1996; c) relative stability were observed in the evolution of aggregate III from 1980 to 1996, rising from 36.40% to 36,51%; d) the aggregate II share declined from 51.29% in 1980 to 43.25% in 1996. | The objective of this work is to analyze coffee production and processing in the economic structure of Minas Gerais, to determine its importance and its linkages to the structure of the State economy, by using input-output matrix. Therefore, it is determined linkages indexes of Rasmussen-Hirschman, boarding fields, pure linkage index (GHS) and regional multipliers of product, income and employment. | This paper aimed to evaluate the technical efficiency of milk producers in the Projeto de Assentamento (PA) Feliz União, municipality of Lagoa Grande, MG. To this collected data to some of the milk production of 23 settlers in 2007 and later was used as analytical tools used Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to assess the technical efficiency of producers. The results show that the majority of producers (84%) are technically inefficient. Of inefficient farmers, 87% are operating under increasing returns to scale and 13% operating under diminishing returns to scale. | Este trabalho objetivou avaliar a eficiência técnica entre os produtores de leite da no PA Fruta D’Anta, no município de João Pinheiro, MG, no ano de 2006. Utilizou-se como instrumental analítico a Análise Envoltória de Dados (DEA), contando com uma amostra de 22 produtores assentados. Os resultados obtidos evidenciam que uma proporção significativa dos produtores são ineficientes tecnicamente. | Este estudo revisou as exsicatas depositadas no Herbário BHCB coletadas em dois fragmentos de Mata Atlântica de interior no Estado de Minas Gerais, Estação Biológica de Caratinga (EBC), município de Caratinga e Parque Estadual do Rio Doce (PERD), nos municípios de Marliéria, Timóteo e Dionísio. Foram encontradas 3366 exsicatas de 1048 espécies, agrupadas em 538 gêneros e 123 famílias. Na EBC há 513 espécies que não ocorrem no PERD, onde há 242 espécies que não ocorrem na EBC; 293 espécies ocorrem em ambas as áreas, com um coeficiente de similaridade de 64%. O gênero Siphanthera está representado no Brasil por treze espécies, que ocorrem nos campos rupestres e nas áreas de campo úmido associadas aos cerrados.
