種堆肥混合が家畜ふん堆肥化の初期過程に及ぼす影響を検討した。この結果, 初期材料のpHと微生物数が種堆肥混合により影響されることが明らかになった。低pH材料への種堆肥混合は, 初期材料pHを上昇させることで初期過程の温度上昇の遅延を防ぎ, 堆肥化反応を促進させた。種堆肥の混合は初期微生物数を増加させ, 広範囲の温度域で高い比増殖速度を示した。これは同時に熱発生速度の上昇に寄与し, 約50℃で見られる温度上昇の停滞を解消した。但し, これらの初期微生物数の増加による効果は初期反応全体を促進させるほどではないが, 微生物活性を増強させスムーズな温度上昇をもたらす可能性が期待される。 |

Village level root crop processing system in the Philippines was evaluated using sweetpotato (cv. Kogane sengan and Shiro satsuma) as materials. The PRCRTC chipper/grater had more pronounced power fluctuation in grating than in chipping and peaking during the loading of the roots. The grinder had the highest energy requirement than the other machines,but the power fluctuation was relatively stable regardless of the amount of materials loaded. The finisher had a stable power fluctuation,and its power increased as either the loading rate or rpm was increased. Size and weight of chips and fineness modulus of grates were affected by the rpm of the blades. The aim of this study was to investigate whether seasonal changes affected in vitro developmental competence of porcine oocytes. The relationship between atmospheric temperature and embryonic development of in vitro matured porcine oocytes following intracytoplasmic sperm injection was examined throughout the year. The blastocyst rate (31.1%) in winter (mean atmospheric temperature during December to February: -3.8 C) was significantly higher (P<0.05) than those of other seasons in 2008/2009 (19.7-23.5%; 6.3-17.5 C). The monthly mean blastocyst rates were negatively correlated with the temperatures (r=-0.5944, P<0.05). Peptide YY (PYY) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) are produced in endocrine cells that show distal distribution in each of small and large intestine. They are colocalized in the same endocrine cells at different ratios depending on the animal species. The present study examined the possibility of plasticity in the colocalization pattern in the bovine rectum, which is known to contain endocrine cells at a high concentration. The oligomannose-coated liposome (OML) vaccine is known to induce cellular immunity specific for the encapsulated antigen in immunized mice. In the present study, we preliminarily evaluated the effect of the OML vaccine encapsulating the soluble protozoan lysate of Toxoplasma gondii, Trypanosoma brucei gambiense, or Babesia rodhaini on the corresponding protozoan infections in mice. After the challenge of T. gondii, the OML vaccine group avoided the high mortality resulting from acute infection that was dominantly observed in other control groups.
