The exotic isopod Synidotea in the Netherlands and Europe, a Japanse or American invasion (Pancrustacea: Isopoda)? Naturalis
Faasse, M.A..
Synidotea is an invasive isopod genus in European waters. The identification of introduced populations has given rise to much controversy. Synidotea recently has been recorded from the Westerschelde estuary on the southern North Sea coast. Other records from the north Atlantic were attributed to S. laevidorsalis; the material from the Westerschelde estuary however is identified as S. laticauda.

Notes on the genus Pyrgus (Lepidoptera, Hesperiidae) Naturalis
Jong, R. de.
1. Pyrgus alveus caucasius Picard and Pyrgus jupei Alberti In a paper on Pyrgus bellieri, Picard (1949: 57) casually named the populations of Pyrgus alveus from the Caucasus and Transcaucasia caucasius. According to Picard, Reverdin (1915) confused this form with the Chinese sifanicus which has different genitalia. The description of caucasius is very short: "Il faut mentionner l'extrême petitesse de la pièce constituée par l'antistyle et le stylifer, ainsi que l'aspect externe qui n'est pas sans ressembler au P. bellieri typique des Alpes". Further, Picard referred to the figures of Reverdin (1915, pl. 5 figs. 5, 6 and 7). Alberti (1967) described the species Pyrgus jupei from the Caucasus, mainly based on the small proportions of the style and antistyle....

The Dutch species of the dance fly genus Hilara (Diptera: Empididae) Naturalis

Catalogue of the Pyrrhocoridae in 's Rijks Museum van Natuurlijke Historie Naturalis
Blöte, H.C..
The family of the Pyrrhocoridæ is rather well represented in the collections of the Leyden Museum, so that it seems me to be of use to publish a catalogue of the specimen after having identified them. The specimen in the collection of the Leyden Museum are of very different origin, as it will be shown in the following catalogue. Of course the Malayan archipelago is the best represented region, and in many cases the list of localities in this paper will throw quite a better light upon the geographical distribution of several species. Besides there were twelve new species from the Netherlands east Indies in the collection, that is about l/6 of the species already described from this region. During the last year the Museum obtained a notable number of partly...

Faasse, M.A..

On a new Brahmaea form the Netherlands East Indies (Lepidoptera, Heterocera) Naturalis
Toxopeus, L.J..
As a result of a trip which I made to S. and C. Celebes in the middle of the year 1936 I am now much pleased to describe a new Brahmaea form, which was sent in by a native collector in one male specimen only. Though abundantly different from Continental species one is forced to see at once the very near relationship between this new form and Brahmaea hearseyi White, as a subspecies of which I will describe it here. Brahmaea hearseyi celebica nov. subspec. (figs. 1 and 2). ♂. Small (wing length 58 mm only). Upperside: groundcolour light greyish buff as in typical hearseyi marked with unsharp brown undulated lines and dark spots much like in that subspecies, but different in the following points: the undulated area of fore and hind wings is filled up with...

Sur Amblyellus Hasdrubal Kohl (Hymenoptera: Pompilidae, Pompilinae) Naturalis
Wahis, R..

On some telestacea and Alcyonacea (Coelenterata; Octocorallia) from the West Indian region Naturalis
Verseveldt, J..
INTRODUCTION During several cruises of H.N1.M.S. Snellius and H.N1.M.S. Luymes in the Guyana shelf region and the Caribbean in the period of 1966 to 1972 a number of Telestacea and Alcyonacea were collected, which have been entrusted to me by Prof. Dr. W. Vervoort, director of the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie, Leiden, and participant of most of the expeditions. I thank him for placing the material at my disposal. List of the cruises: "Snellius" zoological exploration of the continental shelf of Surinam (OCPS-I), western part of the Surinam shelf, March to May 1966. "Luymes" zoological exploration of the continental shelf of Surinam (OCPS-II), eastern part of the Surinam shelf, April 1969. "Luymes" Guyana shelf expedition (CICAR 15), shelf region...

De boorvlieg Myopites apicatus nieuw voor Nederland (Diptera: Tephritidae) Naturalis
Smit, J.T..
Myopites apicates, a new fruitfly for the Netherlands (Diptera: Tephritidae) For some time a representative of the genus Myopites was expected to be found in the Netherlands, as three species were known to occur in the surrounding countries (M. tenellus, M. eximia, M. innulaedyssentericae). In 2003 Myopites apicatus Freidberg, 1980 was finally recorded. Surprisingly, this was not one of the aforementioned three species. In this paper a key to the four species known from northwestern Europe is presented.

Revision of the genus Liporrhopalum Waterston, 1920 (Hymenoptera Chalcidoidea, Agaonidae) Naturalis
Hill, D.S..
The genus Liporrhopalum was described by Waterston in 1920 for a single female collected in Peradeniya, Ceylon, by A. Rutherford on 1. viii. 1913 "on laboratory table"; this became the type species as L. rutherfordi. The identity of the host fig species remained unknown until I collected specimens very similar to this species in Hong Kong (Hill, 1967a & b) from Ficus tinctoria Forst. f. ssp. gibbosa (Bl.) Corner. The Hong Kong species was separated from L. rutherfordi, mainly on biological grounds, and was named L. gibbosae Hill. The main reason for this separation was that of host difference, but the number of lamellae on the mandibular appendage also differed (i.e. four and five or six). According to Corner (1965) the subspecies gibbosa of Ficus...
