| La vigésima primera expedición peruana a la Antártida (ANTAR XXI) fue organizada por la Marina de Guerra del Perú en el verano Austral del 2013 como parte de ella entre el 15 y 22 de febrero, se llevó acabo el crucero oceanográfico en el estrecho Bransfield a bordo del BIC Humboldt, que permitió recolectar información de los principales parámetros oceanográficos. El área monitoreada fue cubierta por 10 secciones transversales, donde se recolectaron muestra de aguas desde la superficie hasta los 500m de profundidad. | Le Centre de Recherches Océanographiques de Dakar-Thiaroye est crée en 1963 et se focalise sur l'Océanographie physique et se diversifie à partir de 1966 avec l'arrivée de biologistes. Dans les années 70, le centre couvre l'essentiel des points de débarquements de poissons sur le littoral. En 1974, avec la création de l'institut Sénégalais de Recherches Agricole (ISRA) dont il est rattaché, le centre voit un élargissement de ses domaines d'interventions. Les aspects économiques et sociologiques autour de la pêche sont prises en considérations vue l'importance qu'elle génère. | The Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) belongs to the University of Dar Es Salaam. It was established in July, 1979 as a lead institute in all fields of marine sciences in Tanzania in terms of research, teaching and consultancy. In 1996, IMS was nominated by the Government of Tanzania as the Designated National Agency (DNA), and on December 17, 2002 the status of IMS was upgraded to full National Oceanographic Data Centre (NODC). |

| RESUME La seizième session du Comité de la COI sur l'IODE a réuni près de 100 participants venus de 37 pays et d'un certain nombre d'organisations partenaires. Le Comité a recommandé qu'un soutien spécifique soit apporté aux coordonnateurs régionaux de l'IODE. | There are several major areas where applied oceanography needs to be addressed in the Indian Ocean and these may generally be summarized as follows: • Climate change and its impacts on the coastal morphology and infrastructure development; • Weather patterns driven by oceanic parameters, and their subsequent socioeconomic impacts; • Pollution arising from sea transportation and land based sources and how these affect marine ecosystems; • Use of oceanography in prediction and monitoring of marine resources (including fisheries, seaweeds, minerals etc). | The Integrated Global Observing Strategy Partnership (IGOS-P) established, in 1999, a thematic approach to the implementation of the IGOS. Recognising that other themes will emerge, the “Ocean Theme” was chosen to be the “pathfinder” in this approach and an Ocean Theme Team was assembled to formulate guidance. One goal of the Ocean Theme Team is to consider and study the full range of current and planned observations, while identifying potential gaps in future observations that might compromise ocean observational records. | The Sixteenth Session of the IOC Committee on IODE was attended by nearly 100 participants from 37 countries and a number of partner organizations. The Committee recommended specific support to the IODE Regional Coordinators. In view of the success of the “Pilot Project on the Revision of MEDI” the Committee recommended to (i) make the MEDI a permanent IODE programme; (ii) establish a Steering Group for MEDI; and (iii) include the MEDI software tool in IODE training activities and capacity building products/projects.
