Influence of manure concentration as inoculum in anaerobic digestion of vinasse Biological Sciences
Silva, Carlos Eduardo de Farias; Abud, Ana Karla de Souza.
Vinasse, main residue of the sugarcane industry, has high pollutant content, being subjected to the use in biogas production due to the high content of organic matter non-toxic to microbial action. For a consolidated process, it is necessary to study parameters that influence the process, in which the amount of inoculum is one of the major factors in the biological process of biogas production. This study investigated the influence of the amount of manure as inoculum (0.5 to 5.5%) during the biodigestion process, evaluating variables such as chemical oxygen demand (COD), pH, biogas production, methane concentration, total solids and total phosphorus and nitrogen contents, as well as microbiological analysis in the sludge remaining in the digester....

taghizadeh tameh, jalil; Jafary, Ali; mousazadeh, hossein; tarabi, nazilla.
Organic manures play an important role in improvement of soil fertility, increase of crop yield and quality. Among these, the use of advantages of manures depends on method of spreading. Unsuitable method in spreading manure caused decreased crop production. Therefore in this study, a novel helical manure distributer machine was developed that capable to speared manure with maximum distribution width at different moisture of manure. The machine performance was modeled as well. This machine consisted of two screw conveyors (auger) on the bottom of hopper, grips, two drums, meshing plate and other component. Effect of speed of drum and mass of particle of manure on distribution width were considered. The power requirement of auger was calculated in different...

Fate of non O157 Shiga toxigenic Escherichia coli in composted cattle manure Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Gonçalves,V.P.; Marin,J.M..
To determine the fate of Shiga toxigenic Escherichia coli (STEC) non-O 157 in composted manure from naturally colonized cattle, fresh manure was obtained from three cows carrying non-O157 STEC strains possessing the stx2 gene. Two composting systems were used: a 0.6m deep cave opened in the soil and an one meter high solid manure heap in a pyramidal architecture. Every day, for the 10 first days, and every five days for a month, one manure sample from three different points in both systems was collected and cultured to determine the presence of E. coli and the presence of the stx 2 gene in the cells. The temperature was verified at each sampling. STEC non-O157 E. coli cells survived for 8, 25 and 30 days at 42, 40 and 38ºC, respectively, in the deep cave...

Use of VIS-NIRS for land management classification with a support vector machine and prediction of soil organic carbon and other soil properties Ciencia e Investigación Agraria
Debaene,Guillaume; Pikuła,Dorota; Niedźwiecki,Jacek.
The objective of this research was to investigate the effects of a long-term experiment on soil spectral properties and to develop prediction models of these properties (soil organic carbon (SOC), N, pH, Hh, P2O5, K2O, Ca, Mg, K, and Na content) from texturally homogeneous samples (loamy sand). To this aim, chemometric techniques, such as partial least square (PLS) regression and support vector machine (SVM) classification, were used. Our results show that visible and near infrared spectroscopy (VIS-NIRS) is suitable for the prediction of properties of texturally homogeneous samples. The effects of fertilizer applications were sufficient to modify the soil chemical composition to a range suitable for using VIS-NIRS for calibration and modeling purposes....
