Validation of HPLC-methods for measurements of secondary plant compounds in carrots followed by multivariate statistical analysis Organic Eprints
Werries, Andreas; Kahl, Dr. Johannes; Fleck, Michael; Arncken, Christine; Schaefer, Betram; Treutter, Prof. Dieter; Ploeger, Prof. Angelika.
Polyphenolic compounds are measured in carrots. Beside measurements of total phenolic contents (TPC) as a sum parameter, HPLC methods are developed and validated to detect the single constituents. The methods are applied for carrot samples from different field experiments as well as farming systems. The aim of the experiments is to test if: 1. carrot samples from different treatments can be differentiated 2. the sum parameters are correlated with the HPLC data (single constituents) 3. the application of multivariate statistics can help to classify the samples according to their treatment

LC-MS characterization of valsartan degradation products and comparison with LC-PDA BJPS
Pires,Sumaia Araújo; Mota,Letícia Martins; Garcia,Jerusa Simone; Amaral,Phellipe Honorio; Meurer,Eduardo César; Eberlin,Marcos Nogueira; Trevisan,Marcello Garcia.
abstract Valsartan was submitted to forced degradation under acid hydrolysis condition as prescribed by the ICH. Degraded sample aliquots were separated via HPLC using a Hypersil ODS (C18) column (250 x 4.6 mm i.d., 5 µm). Either photodiode array (PDA) detection or mass spectrometry (MS) full scan monitoring of HPLC runs were used. HPLC-PDA failed to indicate Valsartan degradation under forced acid degradation, showing an insignificant peak area variation and that Valsartan apparently remained pure. HPLC-MS using electrospray ionization (ESI) and total ionic current (TIC) monitoring did not reveal any peak variation...

On-line HPLC analysis of the antioxidant activity of phenolic compounds in brewed, paper-filtered coffee Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Stalmach,Angélique; Mullen,William; Nagai,Chifumi; Crozier,Alan.
Caffeoyl-, feruloyl- and dicaffeoylquinic acids (chlorogenic acids) in infusions from green and medium roasted coffee beans were identified and quantified by reverse phase HPLC with photodiode array and MS³ detection prior to assessment of the antioxidant activity using an HPLC system with post-column on-line antioxidant detection based on 2,2'-azinobis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid radical scavenging activity. Caffeoylquinic acids were the most abundant antioxidants and roasting induced isomerisation with a decline in 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid and concomitant increases in the 3- and 4-O-derivatives. This did not affect the level of caffeoylquinic acid-derived antioxidant activity...

Evaluation of phosphorus characterization in broiler ileal digesta, manure, and litter samples: 31P-NMR vs. HPLC NWISRL
Leytem, A.B.; Kwanyuen, P.; Plumstead, P.W.; Maguire, R.O.; Brake, J..
Using 31-phosphorus nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy ((31)P-NMR) to characterize phosphorus (P) in animal manures and litter has become a popular technique in the area of nutrient management. To date, there has been no published work evaluating P quantification in manure/litter samples with (31)P-NMR compared to other accepted methods such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). To evaluate the use of (31)P-NMR to quantify myo-inositol hexakisphosphate (phytate) in ileal digesta, manure, and litter from broilers, we compared results obtained from both (31)P-NMR and a more traditional HPLC method. The quantification of phytate in all samples was very consistent between the...
