A study was made for zinc-65 and manganese-54 accumulation and excretion by the Eucalanus elongatus and Idotea metallica zooplankton species. The intensity of the excretion by zooplankters of the radionuclides intaken with food does not depend on the type of food objects and specimen individual masses. The excretion rates of zinc-65 and manganese-54 intaken with food are observed to be different. Zinc is accumulated and excreted more intensely than manganese. The evidence obtained presents interest for solving problems of biogenic migration of microorganisms in the sea.

In the region of South-Atlantic anticyclonic circulation total concentration of zinc and copper in oceanic water ranged within 1.5-17 and 1.8-6.2 mg/l, respectively. The concentration of dissolved mineral zinc varied from 0.0 to 5.8 mg/l, that of dissolved mineral copper - from 0.0 to 2.2 mg/l, that of dissolved organic complex of zinc and of copper - within 0.4-3.6 mg/l and 0.3-1.1 mg/l, respectively. Particulate zinc ranged within 0.18-1.25 mg/l and copper within 0.22 to 3.6 mg/l. Concentration of trace elements in water and their forms ratio depended on regional hydrological conditions. Concentration of zinc in oceanic plankton varied from 3.6 to 124.6 mg/kg, that of copper and manganese - within 1.0-27.4 and 0.2-6.7 mg/kg (wet mass), respectively,...

Stable zinc of the n*0.0001 g/l concentration is observed to influence the radioactive zinc exchange. The inhibitory action of zinc ions is found at a concentration of n*0.01 g/l. Taking into account the rapid growth of Ulva rigida Ag. and its ability of concentrating zinc up to the accumulation coefficient values of 1-5 * 10^3 it is possible to recommend the alga cultivation for sea water purification.

Повышенная по сравнению с контролем гибель икры и предличинок калкана наблюдается при загрязнении среды медью в концентрации 0,05 мг/л, свинцом — 0,005, цинком—1 мг/л, кадмием — 1 мг/л. Обнаружено мутагенное действие на икру и пред-личинки меди, свинца и цинка в концентрациях, близких к летальным.

Metabolism and accumulation of Zn65 by the green alga Ulva rigida were studied in connection with its growth by means of experiments and methods of mathematical modelling. A dependence between the Zn65 accumulation and the growth is found in Ulva rigida. It is shown that the Zn65 metabolism in alga is described satisfactorily by the chamber model, where the two chambers show kinetic of the metabolic processes and the third one Zn65 accumulation in the nonexchangeable found in the alga. It is established that zinc uptake for growth may reach 30% of the zinc total amount exchanged by the alga.

Water, suspension and total plankton were sampled in the summer of 1978 from different horizons and at different time of a day in three test grounds of the Indian Ocean tropical zone. In the surface waters zinc amount varies at different time of a day. The ratio of zinc forms also changes in different horizons and at different time of a day. In the region of the ist test ground notable for the most stable hydrological characteristics the content of all zinc forms rises with depths. Maximum quantities of suspended forms of trace elements are confined to layers of elevated turbidity. Zinc, copper and manganese concentrations in the suspension are within the limits of 0.10-0.89; 0.05-7.72; 0.10-1.68 microg/mg. The trace element content in plankton samples is...
