The paper deals with peculiarities of lipid metabolism in the liver and muscles of the Black sea fishes: bottom inactive Scorpaena porcus L. and pelagic quickly swimming Spicara smaris L. in the prespawning and prewinter periods of the year cycle. The character of metabolic processes was judged from radiocarbon (14C) accumulation and excretion by the fish tissue lipids after a single intraperitoneal injection of I-14C-acetate. Seasonal differences in the character of lipid metabolism are found only in those tissue where accumulation of reserve lipids does not occur (Scorpaens porcus L. muscles and Spicara smaris L. liver).
