Mechanized harvesting is a matter of great economic interest to farmers. Legumes are the second most important family of agricultural products for food security after grains, but their manual harvesting tends to be labor intensive. In this study, after preliminary studies, the authors designed and fabricated a stripper header for harvesting chickpeas. After examining conveyors of different types and designs and the physical arrangement of the components, it was decided to use a pneumatic conveyor in the machine. Designing, fabrication and evaluation of threshing unit edible sunflower CIGR Journal

The present project focuses on solving the problem faced by the farmers in separating the seeds from the edible sunflower heads so study was conducted to designed, fabricated and evaluated a threshing unit which will separate the seeds from the sunflower heads. The sunflower threshing unit operates on the principle of axial flow movement of the material with diameter drum thresher of 600mm and length thresher of 1200 mm. The performance was evaluated in terms of output threshing efficiency, separation efficiency, percentage of seed losses and damage seed. Modeling the optimal factors affecting combine harvester header losses CIGR Journal

Combine header loss comprises more than 50% of wheat harvesting losses.  Therefore, decline in this part of the loss to the extent allowed amount is an important step in reducing of crop wastes.  Combine header is a complex system in which several factors are involved in its work.  And, if these factors can be adjusted and controlled to suit the working conditions, to a large extent of crop loss can be prevented during the harvest.  In this study, reel index, cutting height of crop and horizontal and vertical distance of reel from cutter bar were selected as the effective factors in header loss.  In response surface method, central composite design was used to modeling and finding optimal levels of mentioned factors.  The results showed that power model...
